Houston is preparing to take the global stage as an official host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. From June 14 through July 4, 2026, NRG Stadium will host seven matches, drawing thousands of visitors to our region and bringing new energy and increased traffic to our roadways.
With international fans, large-scale events, and heightened activity across the region, travel patterns will look different during the tournament. Planning ahead will be essential for employers, commuters, and local drivers alike.
What’s Your Game Plan?
To help the region prepare, our Commute Solutions program has launched a new outreach campaign: “What’s Your Game Plan?”
On February 10, we hosted a workshop with more than 40 employers and their human resources teams, equipping them with practical tools and resources to help manage employee commutes and explore flexible and alternative transportation options during high-traffic days.
If you're an employer looking to support your staff, contact us to learn how we can help you establish a commuter benefits program at: CommuteSolutions@h-gac.com.
A New Resource for Smarter Travel
We’ve also launched CommuteGamePlan.com, a website designed to help individual commuters plan smarter trips, explore alternative routes, and consider options such as carpooling, transit, or telework.
Don’t wait until traffic peaks to make a plan. Visit CommuteGamePlan.com today and build a commute strategy that works for you.
