Happy June - Thank you for reading!

On May 16, students, families, and board members celebrated Graduation and College Signing Day. The event was generously sponsored by TD Bank, hosted by Passaic County Community College and Associate Vice-President Patricia Medeiros at PCCC, and featured words of wisdom from speaker Joleen Rivera to our students and families.

College Commitments

undefined

Over the last two years, our high school students have been mentored by their older peers, College Student Leaders, from Passaic. With the help of their “near-peer” mentors, these thirteen graduating Fellows gained confidence, communication, and leadership skills; navigated the world of college applications, financial aid, and scholarships; and communicated their goals to their families.

MTB congratulates all 13 of our graduating high school seniors on the hard work that has culminated in these impressive college commitments.

College Graduations

MTB President Audrey Fisch and Vice President Matt Jackson celebrated the college graduations of two of our MTB College Student Leaders, including Ashley Delgado.

Ashley began her time at MTB in September 2020 as a member of the first cohort of Passaic High School Fellows. She was also the first Fellow to transition into the role of College Student Leader. Manan joined MTB as a College Student Leader in his sophomore year of college. After mentoring their younger high school peers, both took on the role of Program Resource Fellow for 2025-2026, helping to lead MTB and support all the students in the program.

After only three and a half years, Ashley and Manan are both proud first-generation college graduates. They both also graduated summa cum laude. Manan is working at Epic in Wisconsin, and Ashley is working at IACO in Plainfield.

Question: What happens next?

Shortly, we will welcome 26 new MTB High School Fellows. We can't wait!

Our rising seniors will be learning more about our summer program. We hope they will take some time this summer to think more about their options and choices, work on their essays, prepare for the challenges of financial aid, and more. They'll earn a stipend of up to $250 for completing this work!

Many of our graduating high school seniors are off to EOF summer programs, and some will be staying with MTB as they transition into the role of College Student Leader. Over the summer, they'll train with returning College Student Leaders, our Social Work Interns, and our Program Resource Fellows to take on the challenge of serving as MTB mentors!
