Elevate Festival 2025: Brampton Takes the Main Stage

Brampton made a bold presence at Elevate Festival 2025, Canada’s premier tech and innovation event held in Toronto from October 7–9.

As a proud sponsor of the Black Innovation Zone, the City showcased its commitment to inclusive entrepreneurship and diverse innovation. Visionary leaders such as Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor, Nick Noel (Brampton Angel), Melissa Ellis (Founder, Nobellum), and Zainab C. Williams, CFP® (Founder, FundEvolve), took the stage to highlight how Brampton is redefining what an inclusive innovation ecosystem looks like in Canada.

The excitement continued as Mayor Patrick Brown joined Andre Smith, founder of Brampton-based fintech startup Flip & Floss, for a powerful fireside chat titled “The Ecosystem Advantage.” Together, they explored how Brampton’s Innovation District is empowering founders, attracting world-class talent, and driving real business growth.

With energy, vision, and collaboration at its core, Brampton is solidifying its position as one of Canada’s most dynamic hubs for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Brampton NEXT Cohort 2 Graduation

Brampton’s innovation community celebrated the graduation of BHive's Brampton NEXT Cohort 2, marking fourteen weeks of growth and entrepreneurial drive.

Founders joined the program at various stages, from early ideas to MVP development and scaling phases. Over 14 weeks, they refined their business models, deepened their market understanding, strengthened their business plans, enhanced their products or services, and developed concrete strategies for fundraising and growth.

Furthermore, they were inspired by remarks from Mayor Patrick Brown, a fireside chat with Suresh Madan and Vikram Khurana, and a candid panel featuring Hina Sheikh, Harpal Dharna, and Benjamin Mak.

Supported by the City of Brampton and the Ministry of Labour, the program continues to empower newcomer-led startups shaping the city’s future.

Enabled Talent Launches from Brampton to Unlock Global Inclusive Employment

Enabled Talent, an AI-powered inclusive employment platform, officially launched from Brampton, marking its national launch and global expansion, starting with a rollout in Africa. Founded by a partially blind entrepreneur, the platform connects employers with untapped talent and simplifies inclusive hiring, onboarding, and workplace inclusion.

With over 600 million people with disabilities facing high global unemployment, Enabled Talent addresses a major economic and social gap—over $1.9 trillion in GDP is lost annually due to workforce exclusion. The platform helps governments, employers, and nonprofits create accessible pathways to meaningful employment.

Brampton leaders highlighted the city’s Innovation District as a hub for startups that combine technology, inclusion, and global impact, with Enabled Talent demonstrating how local innovation can scale to solve worldwide challenges.
