All Chamber members in good standing are welcome to serve on our committees and our Board of Directors.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
This team helps plan the overall direction of the Chamber. They seek input from area leaders and represent the variety of sectors Pendleton hosts. New members are elected in the Fall. These positions are three year terms. Members of the Board of Directors are requested to serve on at least one other Chamber committee.
As the longest standing Committee, the Ambassadors are a group of business leaders committed to helping the Chamber fulfill our core competencies. Some examples of activities include welcoming new business (ribbon cutting ceremonies), welcoming visiting dignitaries and conventions, honoring Chamber Member anniversaries and other milestones, helping coordinate Kick It Up After 5’s.
This committee is charged with development and implementation of a membership plan that includes high touches and mentors for new members to help them get engaged. In addition to membership development and member benefit monitoring, this Committee helps plan quarterly lunches, workshops, seminars, etc.
The mission of the Travel Pendleton Committee is to promote, market and sell Pendleton as a destination to increase overnight stays. Marketing outside of 97801, they create/facilitate new community-wide events, and give numerous familiarization tours to writers, tour operators and more.
This Committee provides frontline customer service training to those individuals making first contact with our visitors. This Committee is also charged to coordinate the Chamber’s Comprehensive Marketing Plan with other Community Tourism Marketing Partners like the Pendleton Convention Center, Pendleton Downtown Association, Pendleton Round-Up Association, Happy Canyon Company, Oregon East Symphony, Pendleton Center for the Arts, Heritage Station Museum, and more.
In addition to producing the Economic Outlook event that focuses on national, state, and regional forecasts and economic development experts – the Committee works with City Economic Development to recruit primary sector business; works with Resource Partners like the Small Business Development Center and provides good relocation information to potential and new residents. This committee is connecting economic development stakeholders to augment any missing pieces.
GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS ACTION TEAM
This group watches for new government action and legislation that affects local business owners. They make recommendations to the Board of Directors about actions they feel need to be taken. They develop broad based position statements in alignment with your interests and needs.
These teams are short-lived, often annual groups that support major events for the Chamber. These include the First Citizen’s Banquet and the 2A Basketball Tournament.
Please reach out to the Chamber staff should you have an interest in serving on any of our committees!
