It's Love Week
I was talking to Oliver's mom this week and we started talking about real estate. She wanted to know more about the new rental commission law (if you haven't heard about it - click
here
) and if I had any Valentines's Day plans.
I walked home thinking about Valentine's Day and what I love about it. I have always believed that it doesn't matter if your single or coupled, it is a day about love - the people we love, the organizations that create love, the foods we love, the hobbies we love and if we are lucky, the job we love.
As a real estate broker, I know first hand that that over the past decade with the rise of reality TV, our job has been portrayed as over-the-top glamorous and super rich - filled in with a bit of work here and there to collect those huge fees.
SPOILER ALERT - this is not my life or the life is 99% of those in my field. I often work seven days a week - all hours of the day. It takes a non-stop work ethic to get this job done.
So why do I do it? Because I truly love helping others get to the next stage in their lives. Buy, sell, or rent - whatever the need, it is an amazing honor.
My clients put their trust in me to help them with one of the most important decisions of their lives. A responsibility I do not take lightly. It’s personal for me. I think of my nieces and nephews who are young adults and also my parents and it always puts my work into perspective. I work hard to be the dynamic broker I would hire for my family. Someone who puts their needs first, works hard and is honest.
So during this week of love, I want to thank my amazing clients (that I adore,) who I call my friends. I am grateful to all of you who have put your trust in me and have referred your friends and family! I wish you all an amazing week - filled with all the things
you
love!

Spotted Pig Closes Weeks After Owner's Sexual Harassment Payout
Allegations that the iconic West Village gastropub's owner had been sexually harassing women workers for years first surfaced in 2017. The news comes just weeks after owner Kenneth Friedman — who stepped down as The Spotted Pig's chief — paid $240,000 to eleven women workers after Attorney General Letitia James' investigation found he'd bullied them with unwanted touching and sexual advances.

Team Behind Hit Barbuto Confirms a Return to Neighborhood
Jonathan Waxman says things are moving along, and tables and chairs are set up at a new restaurant on the Hudson River waterfront. It appears that the team behind beloved California-ish Italian restaurant Barbuto
is in fact returning
to the West Village. Former Barbuto chef Jonathan Waxman — who is currently “enjoying a temporary retirement in Hawaii” (his words) — confirmed that he and PJ Clarke’s owner Phil Scotti are currently in the throes of next steps, though he could not offer a target opening date.
The sizable new restaurant is located along the Hudson River waterfront at 113 Horatio Street, just blocks from the previous location of Barbuto.

Dig’s Finer Dining Debut Serves a Knockout Roast Chicken
232 Bleecker in the West Village is the lunch chain’s first full-service restaurant and serves a simple yet stunning chicken
232 Bleecker is the first sit-down restaurant by the company formerly known as Dig Inn, the Danny Meyer-backed bowl chain that serves “seasonal American food, mostly vegetables,” per its website. No surprise: 232 traffics in plant-heavy American fare, much of it cooked over a wood-burning hearth, and in an environment that’s more rustic chic than Dig’s sleek cafeteria look.
There is no steak, nor is there a burger. But amid all the charred cauliflower with sunflower butter and grilled carrots with hot honey, chef Suzanne Cupps sells a gem of a roast chicken for $33.
