Two Strong Organizations Are Joining Forces

East Cooper Habitat & Charleston Habitat Merge

We are excited to share transformative news that will shape the future of affordable housing in the Charleston region. Two strong, mission-driven organizations—East Cooper Habitat for Humanity and Charleston Habitat for Humanity—are joining forces to better serve our community.

Effective September 1, 2025, our organizations will merge to become Charleston Habitat for Humanity—a unified, strengthened nonprofit with increased capacity, greater geographic reach, and new opportunities for innovation and impact.

This merger will not affect day-to-day operations for our families, volunteers, donors, or partners.

Instead, it marks a bold step forward to:

Expand our programming to serve more families across Charleston County and beyond

Increase the number of new home builds and critical repairs throughout our combined service area

Access new funding opportunities through unified grant applications, partnerships, and donor networks

Optimize resources by combining our administrative, fundraising, family services, and construction teams

Our headquarters will be located at 731 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29403, effective September 1, 2025.

EVENT: Day of Remembrance

ABOUT:

On September 11, join Charleston Habitat for Humanity for a Day of Remembrance, Service & Honor — a powerful community-wide event bringing together first responders, veterans, public officials, and neighbors to turn remembrance into action.

🛠 What You’ll Do:

Volunteer on a Habitat construction or critical repair project that will directly benefit a local family in need. This year, we’ll also celebrate the AmeriCorps program and the incredible service its members bring to affordable housing and disaster recovery efforts.

8:30 AM — Opening Ceremony -Open to the public

9:30 AM – 3:00 PM — Volunteer Project - Registration Required

3:00 PM — Reflection & Community Gathering

EVENT: Build with Pride

DATE: September 12-13

TIME: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

ABOUT:

Charleston Habitat for Humanity will host its first-ever Build with Pride—a joyful, hands-on event celebrating community, inclusion, and unity.

Adult volunteers (ages 16+) will help build a safe, affordable home for a local family.

Youth volunteers (ages 12+) will design and decorate a Pride-themed playhouse to be featured in the Charleston Pride Parade on October 11.

Be part of this special event and help create a future where everyone has a place to call home.

RESTORE – Do you love thrifting or home improvements?

Come volunteer with us at our nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price and with no sales tax. Proceeds are used to build homes locally in downtown Charleston, North Charleston, and West Ashley.

CONSTRUCTION – Is construction more your speed?

Come and build with us! We are currently building our 100th home at 1916 English Street (North Charleston) for Denise and completing several home renovation projects in West Ashley. Join us and be a part of Charleston Habitat history!
