As we approach the one year mark after Hurricane Ida (and seventeen year mark after Hurricane Katrina), I marvel at how much has changed and how much as stayed the same. We have new tile floors and carpet in the sanctuary, and our faithful congregation has remained strong. People have moved away, and others have joined. Old ministries have been strengthened and new ones are being formed. St. Paul's is in a wonderful place and I am grateful for all you and your work in this community.
As members of the body of Christ, we are all called to participate in regular worship with one another. At St. Paul's, we gather for worship twice on Sunday mornings and once on Wednesday evenings throughout the year. And it is in this regular corporate worship that we build the foundation from which we grow in relationships, in service, and Christ. This principle act of worship is essential to our lives as Christians and as members of the body of Christ, and so we are called again and again to the sanctuary, to the altar for worship.
This Sunday, I hope you feel that call to come and join us for worship. And when you come, you'll be greeted by our beautiful new pew cushions! We've waited faithfully for many months on hard, wooden pews, and now we have cushions to make our worship more comfortable. So, I hope you will come and bless our cushions by using them in our worship of a God who loves us and blesses us in many different and unexpected ways.
Keep the faith, St. Paul's,

Thank you to everyone who made the Camp Able NOLA Water Day a huge success! Last Saturday, St. Paul's hosted a great day of fun and fellowship for the campers, staff, and families of Camp Able NOLA. There were water slides, kiddie pools and toys, arts and crafts, delicious food, and so much fun. There was even dancing in the rain!
Mark your calendars for next year's event in late July 2023!

Each month, volunteers from St. Paul's prepare sandwiches, chips, drinks, and homemade cookies for our neighbors in need. Volunteers take these donations to Lantern Light and hand them out to members of our community who are experiencing food insecurity. On Sunday, August 14th, leaders from this ministry will meet in the parlor after the 10:15 AM service. If you are interested in joining this ministry or would like to learn more, you are invited to attend this meeting. Questions? Email William Barousse or Betsy Stoner

"Having access to online worship available has been such a comfort to me. Thank you so much!"
"We watched last week when we were on vacation--it was so cool that we could do that!"
"Yes, it's our first Sunday here, but we watched online a few times before coming in person."
These are the kinds of comments we hear from people regularly about our online worship. Having stream producers available each week has an impact on members and newcomers alike, and we are inviting you to be a part of it.
Each Sunday, a volunteer runs our virtual stream so people around our neighborhood, city, and even country can join us for worship. You do not need previous experience in videography, or an Oscar for directing--just a comfort with computers, a working knowledge of the worship service, and a desire to serve others. The software and equipment is very user-friendly, and actually a lot of fun to use. All volunteers will receive one-to-one training to get you ready. Please contact Mtr. Liz here for more information and to sign up!

Do you know any students heading to LSU this fall?
St. Alban’s Chapel is busily preparing to receive a new and (God willing) unmasked group of LSU Tigers! We are centrally located on the campus of Louisiana State University with a mission to welcome, encourage, prepare, and support LSU students. Our motto is Our doors are open all day, every day, for everybody. The sanctuary space stands open 24/7. Our student center (common hall, library, kitchen, loft) is open Monday – Thursday (8:00 – 5:00), and often longer.
Some students attend our 10:30 service of Holy Eucharist. Most now attend recharge! (Sunday evenings at 6:00), a repackaged, expanded service of Compline. The service is led by students and features familiar music by a talented quartet, candlelight, intentional spaces of silence, and prayerful reflection on the scriptures. It is relaxed, casual, unhurried, and lasts about 30 minutes. The service is always followed by a homecooked, FREE dinner.
This fall, our students will host two weekly small group Bible studies specifically designed to help students build relationships following this long season of isolation caused by the pandemic. We also host Crawfish Boils, Trivia Nights, Spike Ball and Four-Square games, Ultimate & Art, and Bob Ross Painting Nights! Our college students also help run our Children’s Education ministry and serve on all the committees and ministries at St. Alban’s Chapel.
For more information, visit our web site at www.stalban.org. We need your help in contacting incoming students this fall! If you are or know any students who might appreciate learning more about the ministry of St. Alban’s Chapel, please contact the chaplain Fr. Drew Rollins (lsuchaplain@stalban.org; c: 225-933-0241). We are at LSU for you!

Wren
an article by Dr. Jeanne Robertson
“Tell me the weight of a snowflake,” a wren asked a wild dove.
“Nothing more than nothing,” was the answer.
“In that case I must tell you a marvelous story,” said the wren.
“I sat on the branch of a fir tree close to the trunk, when it began to snow – not heavily, not in a raging blizzard – no, just like a dream, without a sound and without any violence. Since I did not have anything better to do, I counted the snowflakes settling on the twigs and needles of my branch. The number was exactly... Read the rest of her article at our website.
