These maps are racist, period | |
Texas has more Black people than any state in this country, but these maps would leave us with just 2 seats where we can choose our own representation. My @congressionalblackcaucus colleagues and I won’t stand by while they try to silence Black voters.

El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, better known to you as Malcolm X, was never timid about calling out racists and racism. One of his favorite quotes is apt for a recent sighting of blatant racism. In the words of Chris Rock, that racism bus is never late! Malcolm X asked, tongue in cheek… What do you call a Black Man with a PhD from Harvard?” And the former Malcolm Little answered his own question. “America calls him a ‘Nicca!” Well, Hakeem Jeffries is the leader of the Democrats in the House of Representatives. He has no PhD.

An old saying coined by Floridian Zora Neale Hurston in her final major nonfiction work, Dust Tracks on a Road, set in Florida. “All skinfolk ain’t kinfolk” is an idiom that distinguishes shared identity from shared interests. Byron Donalds wants to be Florida’s next governor. Not on our watch. Black America generates $2.1 trillion in annual buying power—enough to rank 15th globally in 2026, ahead of Spain, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. Yet the Black dollar leaves the community in six hours. Here is the mechanics of the leak—and what a 1% shift would build. lack America wields an economic force that rivals sovereign nations. With an estimated $2.1 trillion in annual buying power, if Black Americans were treated as a standalone economy, that collective spending would rank around 15th in the world in 2026.

An estimated 850,000 African American men from across the United States gathered at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., one of the largest demonstrations in Washington's history. This march surpassed the 250,000 who gathered in 1963 for the March on Washington, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his historic “I Have a Dream” speech.

FSGS Living with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) often means learning how to balance two very different realities. On one hand, you’re managing a chronic kidney disease that can affect your energy, physical stamina, and emotional well-being. On the other hand, life keeps moving. You still have a career, deadlines to meet, meetings to attend, responsibilities to manage, and people who depend on you. For many people with FSGS, work doesn’t stop simply because symptoms appear. Bills still need to be paid, families still need support, and personal goals don’t disappear after a diagnosis.

DAILY REMEMBRANCE
Somebody woke up to a void today and is trying to find their way.
Somebody won't be able to make things right because of things they didn't get a chance to say.
Somebody is wishing they could turn back time and gaze into a loved one's eyes. Somebody's heart has been broken by death, and all they can do is cry.
Somebody has fallen to their knees with the weight of sadness today.
Somebody is learning that the only way up from here is to stay on their knees and pray.
