MARRAKECH PARTNERSHIP NEWSLETTER
Summary of Marrakech Partnership Activities
at SB 50
At SB 50, the High-Level Champions, Mr. Tomasz Chruszczow of Poland and Mr. Gonzalo Muñoz of Chile held over 40 consultations with Parties, constituted bodies, coalitions and initiatives on their  Work Programme for 2019-2020 for the Marrakech Partnership, which they released during conference. Positive feedback was received on their plans and work so far and the role of non-Party stakeholders in achieving the aims of the Paris Agreement. They presented this vision to the broader audience of the conference in an open briefing session ( available for viewing via webcast recording) with opening remarks from the UNFCCC Executive Secretary and where the Deputy to the Special Envoy for 2019 UN Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit also provided views on the linkage of the Marrakech Partnership to the upcoming Summit and how the Summit outcomes can feed into COP 25 and beyond.

The High-Level Champions also participated in the Technical Expert Meetings on Mitigation and Adaptation and engaged in several events organized by Parties and other stakeholders.

Finally, workshops were convened with the data and analysis community to discuss the analytical work needed for this year, which included positive feedback on the plans for the development of the Global Climate Action (NAZCA) Portal in tracking climate action and acting as the follow-up tool for the announcements made at the Summit.
