Is that a baby sand cat?
Meet Kaya, our ADULT female sand cat. Sand cats are the only species to live in true dessert habitats. Kaya and her companion Amal are at the Ross Park Zoo on a breeding recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan.

Our keepers have been working with Kaya and have trained her to voluntarily sit on a scale for weight checks. By training our animals to be active participants in their care, we are able to reduce the stress experienced by our animals during routine health and welfare checks.

Ross Park Zoo Update
New Habitats
During the month of July we opened two new habitats including a new mixed species habitat in our New World Tropics (pictured on the left). This new habitat will be home to our marmosets and Basil our prehensile tailed porcupine. So if stop by our Wonders of Nature Building and wonder where our marmosets went to, they are now living in their new habitat in the New World Tropics.

If you haven't been up to visit this new habitat we recommend you stop in and check it out. With "floor to ceiling" viewing windows this new habitat provides incredible viewing options. The new habitat also allows you to hear the marmosets communicate with each other. Basil will be joining the marmosets next week after they have had a chance to get settled into their new home.
Penguin Chick Naming Contest
Our animal care staff have narrowed the name suggestions for our newest male penguin chick down to four names and now its up to you to vote for your favorite!

The four finalists are:
  • Angus
  • Paco
  • Pudge
  • Tux
Thursday Nights are WILD!
You asked for it and we delivered. We're open late EVERY THURSDAY through the end of August. Our ticket booth is open until 6 pm and the zoo closes at 7 pm.

Grab your family and friends and head on over to the zoo Thursday nights in August!

The Feast is BACK!
We will once again host our annual Feast with the Beast. This year's event will take place on Wednesday August 25th and will feature a feast from Food & Fire along with music from the Binghamton Philharmonic.

Tickets are available now and space will be limited so purchase your tickets today!
