Kim Brown: Welcome to The Real News. I’m Kim Brown. In the weeks since the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, there have been daily sustained protests across the country advocating for the equality and liberation of vulnerable and marginalized communities, particularly that of Black people. One such protest came from the medical community. If you search the hashtag White Coats For Black Lives, what you’ll find is a smattering of media, ranging from videos to photos, to outright statements acknowledging and yet decrying racism that exists within the medical field with statements and pledges to do better and help to alleviate this issue. Joining us today to discuss this is Randi Abramson, M.D. She is the Chief Medical Officer for an organization in Washington, D.C. called Bread For The City, where their mission is to help low-income district residents empower their communities through various means of aid. Dr. Abramson joins us today from Washington D.C. Thank you so much for being here.

Randi Abramson: Sure. Thanks for having me.

Cuba reopens its borders to international tourism
Granma, July 7, 2020 - With an infrastructure constructed in harmony with nature over more than two decades, the Cuban beach resorts of Jardines del Rey and Cayo Santa María, off the northern coast of the provinces of Ciego de Ávila and Villa Clara, respectively, continue their consolidation as essential tourist destinations.

Available, between the two, are 46 four and five-star hotels, with more than 19,000 rooms open to national and international tourism, placing them among the most attractive sites in Cuba and the entire Caribbean.

Morality as our banner

Granma July 7, 2020-     Once again, an attempt was made to manipulate the issue of human rights to discredit Cuba, following the same dishonest, 60-year-old prefabricated script. The double standards, political manipulation and selectivity in addressing the issue were deployed unsuccessfully, in an effort to overshadow our achievements before the world.

The stage on this occasion was the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, where an individual attempted to present a long list of lies attacking our country, in a brazen anti-Cuban show, to be amplified in the slanderous media campaign against the island.
