PHA Board of Directors.
Construction is in Progress!
Construction is now in progress in the area behind the 100-yard firing line.

This work started on June 10 and will take approximately ten workdays to complete. We will announce the official completion date here in the Range Report when they get closer to the end of work. They may hit a weather delay or some other delay during the next two weeks. And we want to be accurate on the re-opening date.

During this entire work period, the 100-yard range and
pistol bay #1 will be closed for the entire time.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DRIVING THROUGH THIS AREA.

During all of the work in this area, and because of necessary work that will be required, access to the entire pistol bay may have to be closed for a short period of time while work is done on the driveway/parking area behind the 100-yard range. They will do their best to keep the closing to as short a time as they can. If this is necessary, we will issue the necessary construction reports to keep you informed as to when it will close and re-open.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary project may cause you.

PHA Club Board of Directors.
ATTENTION ALL PHA MEMBERS!
EFFECTIVE THURSDAY, MAY 28

All PHA matches will resume their normal schedule. However, we still must still follow a few NC restrictions while shooting matches.

They are:

  • While shooting outdoors, no more than 25 people will be allowed to participate in ANY PHA match.
  • Everyone shooting the match must maintain the 6-foot separation.
  • All match shooters, match directors, and RSO's must wear protective masks.
  • No food can be provided at any match.

If these requirements cannot be complied with at any match, then the match must be canceled. These requirements will remain in place until the NC Governor relaxes them again. And we'll report those changes in the Range Report.

Also, the guest restriction has now been removed. Please follow the normal limitation, 2 per member, for guests you bring PHA Range.

Purchase of Tractor with Backhoe
and Front-end Loader
PHA Members.

The PHA Board now has an opportunity to purchase a 1997-98 Ford 545 backhoe/front end loader. This backhoe has a 12-foot boom with a large capacity 24-inch bucket, and less than 400 operating hours. It is currently owned by a PHA member who no longer has a need for this tractor. Some members of the PHA Board of Directors have physically inspected this tractor and found it to be in good condition. The price of this tractor is $9,000.

PHA is a growing organization and there are many ways that this tractor can be used for ongoing range maintenance.
  • Moving dirt, gravel, etc., from one location to another. The larger bucket will result in fewer trips.
  • Will help with ongoing road maintenance especially where trenches continually need to be redefined to help with water control.
  • Almost every shooting venue needs to have retrenching done at the base of the berms to redirect the water flow.
  • Water control work at the rear of the pistol bays.
  • It will be easier for ongoing berm maintenance.
  • The 12-foot arm reach will easily reach the bed of a dump truck.
  • There is a 21-acre site that will need plenty of development work.
  • And many more projects that we do not know about yet.

This will allow PHA to address projects without relying on outside contractors. The more it is used, the quicker the payback time.

PHA has funds in reserve for this purchase.

All we need is approval from the membership to move forward with the purchase. Therefore, on Friday, June 19, at 6 am, you will receive a ballot through Constant Contact to vote on the purchase of this tractor. The ballot will close at 5 pm on Tuesday, June 23.

If you have any questions, please contact any PHA Board Member.

The Kind Heart Fund
PHA is starting a Kind Heart Fund.

The purpose of this fund is to provide kindness, sympathy and caring as we support special situations of our members, friends and the neighbors in our local community. Nancy Mueller will be leading the committee for Kind Heart.

This will include sending flowers or a memorial gift when a member or someone in the member's immediate family passes away, a remembrance card when a member is in the hospital, donations to local organizations, and other special situations that may arise.
If you know of a club member in one of these situations, please notify Nancy Mueller ([email protected]).

Funding for Kind Heart will only come from donations, raffles or other events as needed. PHA will not be funding Kind Heart directly.
Our funding will start with a raffle for several prizes. The drawing for these prizes will be on Saturday, September 26, at the Open House.

There will be more information on the raffle in next weeks Range Report.

So, Who is Running for What?
Since there is already so much information in this edition of the Range Report, it was decided to publish a separate Range Report titled:

Range Report-The Election Edition

This will be published on Friday, June 19 at 9 am. It will have all of the candidates and their bio's for all three organizations and a list of the important dates you need to know about. This includes the ballot deadlines and the dates of the Annual Meetings for each PHA organization.
Stock Certificates
Recently, PHA Range II completed the sale of stock to help finance the purchase of land. A thank you to all who helped to make this possible.

PHA Range is also an organization that also has stockholders as well.

Right now, neither organization anticipates issuing any stock in the near future. So no stock waiting list will be maintained for either organization.

However, if any stockholder wishes to sell their stock, please contact the PHA Secretary and let him know. He'll make arrangements for the seller to contact the potential buyer so that they can come to an agreement.
PHA Safety Reminder

Shooters under 16 years of age must be under direct adult supervision at all times. Guests must stay in the company of the member they are accompanying but may be firing at the same time as the member.
