The Range Report
October 22, 2020
ATTENTION
Due to a hard, short rain, (3 inches in one hour) the 100-yard bridge over the creek has been damaged. Therefore, the 100-yard berm is NOT accessible at this time.

UPDATE: We are trying to get an appointment with a local construction company for an onsite review.

We will make an announcement in this spot as to when the bridge will re-open and the 100-yard berm is accessible again.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

REMINDER

ATTENTION TO ALL PHA MEMBERS!

ALL PHA MEMBERS MUST WEAR THEIR PHA ID BADGES
ON THEIR PERSON (NOT ON YOUR RANGE BAG, NOT HANGING ON THE REARVIEW MIRROR OF YOUR VEHICLE, OR ANYWHERE ELSE) AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON PHA PROPERTY.

NO EXCEPTIONS.

If anyone asks about your badge, do not take it personally.
Just show your badge and thank them for asking.

PHA Board of Directors.
ATTENTION ALL PHA MEMBERS!
Governor Cooper's Phase 3 does
not change anything for PHA.

All PHA matches will continue their normal schedule. However, we still must still follow a few NC restrictions while shooting matches.

They are:

  • While shooting outdoors, no more than 50 people will be allowed to participate in ANY PHA match.
  • Everyone shooting the match must maintain the 6-foot separation.
  • All match shooters, match directors, and RSO's must wear protective masks.
  • No food can be provided at any match.

If these requirements cannot be complied with at any match, then the match must be canceled. These requirements will remain in place until the NC Governor relaxes them again. And we'll report those changes in the Range Report.

Also, the guest restriction has been removed. Please follow the normal limitation, 2 per member, for guests you bring PHA Range.

PHA Board of Directors.

.22 Bench Rest Match Results

What a great Saturday it was at PHA! Cool temperatures, no wind, and 10 friends to shoot the BR match. Fall has always been my favorite time of the year to shoot.

In my 40 years of competitive shooting in state, regional and national matches, I have seen and shot with a lot of extraordinary shooters, but I have to say, that we have three shooters that can hold their own against anyone. Tom, Vince & Paul are shooting at a very high level of competition with only the "X" count separating the three from first place to third.

Last month my spotting scope fogged up and luckily enough a good friend, Charlie Christian, was there. I asked Charlie if he would spot for me. I told him if I shot 5 rounds out of the X ring to tell me
(the X ring is only 3/8 of an inch on a 23 target) so I wouldn't waste anymore match ammunition. He told me after 10 shots that I could quit. These guys are that good! You can only miss the X ring just so many times. I think the only way I can catch up with these guys is to make it mandatory that everyone shoots Remington Thunderbolt ammunition next year.

We had two new shooters to come out Saturday, Mitchell & Wayne. Wayne has been coming out the last two matches to observe. He finally made a decision to jump-in and went to the
Gun Store in Lexington and met with Charlie. Charlie fixed him up with a rifle, scope & bags. Wayne ended up placing third in the factory gun class in his first match. Congratulations Wayne!

This season is quickly coming to an end. Our last match is today, Thursday, October 22nd, 2020.
