.22 Bench Rest Match

The forecast for last Thursday was a high of 47 degrees with a northeast wind of 10 to 15 miles per hour. Not good weather for .22 BR. Even with bad weather conditions we had nine shooters come out for our last match of the year.

This was a good year for BR for growth and the number of competitors. We had an average of 9 shooters per match with a high of 12 shooters in September. The factory gun class seems to be the most popular among the 5 classes. The factory class are guns that are stock with a scope power of no more than 12X and weighs less than 8 pounds. This is a 50 yard match using a modified scoring system. Everyone has one of these rifles in your safe. So, why not come out and give benchrest a try next year. We use a IBS rimfire 50 yard target if you want to practice. So next year make it one of your goals to come out and try benchrest.

Next year's benchrest matches will move to the third Saturday of the month and then the following Thursday, from March to October. Starting time is always 8:00 am.

Match Results:

50 yard Factory gun:  Paul Brinkman 249/21X's

Open Site class:  Tom Whitlow 250/14X's, Paul Brinkman 249/16X's

Sporter class - 50 yards -- Keith Ralston 248/18X's, Vince Swicegood 247/9X's

Sporter rifle - 80 yards -- David Motsinger 250/22X's

Thanks to everyone who participated in our BR matches this year. It has been a great year.

Buffalo Match

We had seven shooters at PHA for this damp and cool October 20th match. Three of the four categories had only one shooter which gave us three uncontested matches. The Iron Site Smokeless class had four really competitive shooters (1st and 4th only 12 points apart). James Clubb led the pack.
