The Range Report
September 24, 2020
ATTENTION
Due to a hard, short rain, (3 inches in one hour) the 100-yard bridge over the creek has been damaged. Therefore, the 100-yard berm is NOT accessible at this time.

We are awaiting a proposal from a contractor for the necessary repairs and also exploring alternatives.

We will make an announcement in this spot as to when the bridge will re-open and the 100-yard berm is accessible again.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

ATTENTION ALL PHA MEMBERS!
EFFECTIVE Friday, September 4

All PHA matches will continue their normal schedule. However, we still must still follow a few NC restrictions while shooting matches.

They are:

  • While shooting outdoors, no more than 50 people will be allowed to participate in ANY PHA match.
  • Everyone shooting the match must maintain the 6-foot separation.
  • All match shooters, match directors, and RSO's must wear protective masks.
  • No food can be provided at any match.

If these requirements cannot be complied with at any match, then the match must be canceled. These requirements will remain in place until the NC Governor relaxes them again. And we'll report those changes in the Range Report.

Also, the guest restriction has now been removed. Please follow the normal limitation, 2 per member, for guests you bring PHA Range.

Rest Match Results

Fall came Saturday early for the BR match with cool temperatures and windy conditions. Cool temperatures make little difference in the scope but the wind, at times, made you favor about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. You would not think that a 40gr bullet going 1085 fps would move that much at 50 yards, but it does.

I asked Vince Swicegood if he was having any trouble with the Wind. Vince said, "what wind"? That is why he doubled up with wins in the open site class and sporter class at 50 yards.

If you are planning to shoot a BR match this year, time is running out. October matches are the last ones we shoot this year. Match dates of Oct. 17th & 22nd.

Match Results:

Factory Class - 50 yards
1st place - Harold Fullum, Remington 541T, 250 15x's,
2nd place - David Motsinger, CZ452, 250 14x's

Sporter Class - 50 yards
1st place - Vince Swicegood, Winchester 52, 249 10x's
2nd place - Dennis Mueller, Cooper 57M, 248 9x's

Open Sight Class - 50 yards
1st place - Vince Swicegood, Winchester 52, 150 13x"s

Open Class - 80 yard
1st place - Derick Harden, Custom built rifle, 243 9x's

The prestigious Harbor Freight Award - Dennis Mueller

Thanks to Harold & Vince for coming out early to help set up.

We're Looking for a Little Help.
The PHA Range Board of Directors is looking for a some part-time volunteers for two of the PHA officers. PHA is growing and that means there is more to do in the "back office" of PHA.

The two officers are: Secretary, Membership Secretary.

If you are interested in any of the two areas, or want more information, click on one of the buttons below and let them know. They will get back to you soon.
PHA Safety Reminder

All targets must be placed directly in front of berms.

Do not place targets between firing point and the leading edge of the berms since that can cause dangerous ricochets.

This is becoming a problem at the .22 range. If you are asked by a PHA Board Member to move your target, please do so immediately.
