The Range Report
September 3, 2020
Due to a hard, short rain, (3 inches in one hour) the 100-yard bridge over the creek has been damaged. Therefore, the 100-yard berm is NOT accessible at this time.

We have a contractor coming in Thursday or Friday to review the damages and make an assessment for necessary repairs.

We will make an announcement in this spot as to when the bridge will re-open and the 100-yard berm is accessible again.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

PHA Board of Directors.
EFFECTIVE Friday, September 4

All PHA matches will continue their normal schedule. However, we still must still follow a few NC restrictions while shooting matches.

They are:

  • While shooting outdoors, no more than 50 people will be allowed to participate in ANY PHA match.
  • Everyone shooting the match must maintain the 6-foot separation.
  • All match shooters, match directors, and RSO's must wear protective masks.
  • No food can be provided at any match.

If these requirements cannot be complied with at any match, then the match must be canceled. These requirements will remain in place until the NC Governor relaxes them again. And we'll report those changes in the Range Report.

Also, the guest restriction has now been removed. Please follow the normal limitation, 2 per member, for guests you bring PHA Range.

Match Results
Fifth Sunday Shotgun

What a beautiful day it was to shoot last Sunday!

We had a great turnout for our fifth Sunday shooting. A number of "first time" shooters,
our regular shooters, and guys getting ready for the opening of dove season.

Scores were high with a number of 22's & 23's, which was great news for the shooters but bad news for the doves.

Thanks to Kevin, a PHA Board Member who just stopped by to see if he could help. (And we put him to work right way.) PHA needs more Kevin's to "step-up" and get involved.

With things opening back up we really need the 1st and 2nd Sunday to be open for Sunday shooting.

You do not have to be a shotgun shooter to be a match director, just a desire to help the club. Please give it a thought...we need your help!

David Motsinger
Match Director
Buffalo Match

We had a great Sunday shoot and fifteen shooters filled the air with smoke.

Frank “Huggy” Mitchell dropped in after a long absence and many get well prayers. Huggy has been the cornerstone of our matches and has been sorely missed.

The next match is September 20.
Come see us.

From the President of PHA Range

Throughout these truly trying times we’ve had to adjust to the way we conduct our club business. We’re still accomplishing tasks but at a much slower pace. Because of this, we’ve stumbled upon something I feel is a positive.

In the past, decisions were made by voting at PHA Monthly Membership meetings, which was considered a quorum and represented about 10% of the club. Since we’ve started our online voting we’re receiving about 50% participation, which is outstanding. I hope everyone is onboard with continuing this for major expenditures. When we’re allowed to hold monthly membership meetings, we’ll vote on normal business, but major expenses will be by online vote because they better reflect the desires of the membership.

We’ll soon be working on next year’s budget and that also will be passed by an online vote. So I ask you to please vote when you receive these requests. Our club is still growing and we appreciate and value your thoughts and participation. As your board, we’re currently all volunteers and are having two board meetings a month in order to serve you better and stay ahead of our growth.

Thanks for your support.

We're Looking for a Little Help.
The PHA Range Board of Directors is looking for a some part-time volunteers for three of the PHA officers. PHA is growing and that means there is more to do in the "back office" of PHA.

The three officers are: Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary.

If you are interested in any of the three areas, or want more information, click on one of the buttons below and let them know. They will get back to you soon.
PHA Safety Reminder

The entrance gate should be opened and re-locked by members only upon entering or leaving the PHA range. (Sharing the combination with a non-member is cause for loss of membership!)

Gift Certificates

Gift Certificates Are Available!
If you would like to give someone a gift certificate for a new membership or for annual renewal, we can help you to do that. Just contact the PHA Secretary for details.
