Welcome to the first edition of Full Color Conversations, where we share the dialogues we have within ourselves, with each other and with YOU about the deeper meaning of the everyday happenings of life.

We have struggled to find the right place for this facet of ourselves to come to life, and finally decided it should start here with you, our valued subscribers.

These short posts are our reflections on right-now, real-life moments that are ripe with fresh perspectives, if only we have the time and presence to notice.

We know your time is limited and we value your presence and attention. Our hope is that these conversations are a little breath of fresh air in your day. If you like them, please hit reply and let us know!

Perspective is Everything - Part 1

I moved to the couch so Bailey could sit with me. She was unsettled because she couldn't find her 'spot' amidst the newly acquired and rearranged furniture.

We used to sit on the couch together each morning while I had my tea and writing time, but now I have a new 'spot'. My cozy nook beneath The Activity of Love painting in the golden wingback chair that belongs to my 98-year-old grandmother is a tight fit for Bailey.

Up until a few weeks ago, grandma's chair sat right beside grandpa's chair in the home they shared since before I was born. After yet another fall, grandma has been forced to sell her home and is now living with her son. That's a story for another time.

So many pieces of furniture needed a new home and now, here they are! It feels good to keep grandma and grandpa's chairs together, just as they had been for all those years.

Today, I'm noticing how keeping one tradition alive has broken another (Bailey & Me Couch Time!).

Reaching a new equilibrium when things change, especially unexpected change, can be uncomfortable. It takes time to adjust, and sometimes, in Bailey's case, a little panting and pacing back and forth. 😁

What we do with our discomfort while we wait in the unknown has everything to do with how we experience the influx of change that comes.

Today, I set up a folding table and brought my tea and journal to the 'old couch' in its new spot, where Bailey settled right in beside me. Sitting here afforded me a fresh perspective of how grandma and grandpa's chairs fit into their new home.

It's a seamless fit, if you ask me.

If you ask grandma about my paintings, she'll probably say, "why do you paint like this?!" She likes my work, but she doesn't understand it. 🙃

As I sit here in the 'old' while looking at the 'new', it's almost as if I had been painting these chairs, and this moment, into my life before I even knew they were coming.

Perspective is everything.

Those prophetic words welled up within me the night I met my former husband, and they've continued to shape my experiences ever since. That too, is a story for another time.

Until next time, keep your perspectives fresh and hold the ones you love close to your heart 💟.

With Love,

Angel
