NEWS & UPDATES

Meet New Member Ginny Davis

If you haven’t already, I really hope you get to meet Ginny Davis. She’s used talents and skills to carry many roles throughout her life, such as teaching, occupational therapy, and  custom furniture making.

She’s lived in various places mostly in the Eastern US and especially loved her time on the eastern shore of Maryland. Ginny has a son in Kentucky who she enjoys connecting with by talking literature and a daughter she moved here to be closer to for frequent visits together.

With Ginny, you’ll never run out of things to talk about. She’s the kind of strong, reflective, creative spirit everyone needs as a friend.

You might enjoy a seasonal donut together at Milkbread with her, talking about purpose, family, or her years spent living and helping in Africa as part of the Peace Corps.

Or perhaps you can enjoy breakfast at the Egg, conversing about books and comparing notes on what it’s like to navigate seasons of changes and challenges.

Maybe you’ll have a chance to take a clay- making class together at the Cain Center. Or listen to live music outside on the circles in Davidson.

She’s most likely to love on your pets, read to your grandkids, or invite you to enjoy some coffee together.

Ginny joined SCC in hopes to make new connections and friendships. She sure came to the right place. Welcome, new friend.

Davidson Rotary Grant

Senior Community Connections is happy to announce that we received $5,000 in funding from the Rotary Club of Davidson. This grant will provide opportunities for SCC better support senior members, helping combat loneliness and isolation. SCC helps seniors live on their own terms, and part of this work involves improving mental health. We encourage active and social older adults who feel loved, supported, and valued. Thank you to the Davidson Rotary for this generous and important funding.

KnowHow is a free, decision-support and personal advocacy program that helps SCC members live life on their terms by knowing what they don’t know. KnowHow doesn’t make the decision. It makes the decision you make, better!

SAVE THE DATE: KnowHow presentation October 12 : Medicare Open Enrollment & More

Innumerable studies show, time and again, that older adults suffer disproportionately from missteps, misinformation and unfortunate decision-making that can derail one’s quality of life. Prudent counsel, however, is often hard to come by. KnowHow has filled this void for individuals and families throughout the Lake Norman Region as it becomes increasingly recognized as a trusted and discerning advocate for those it serves.

Areas Where KnowHow Matters:

  • Medicare
  • Social Security
  • Planning with the End in Mind
  • Patient Savvy
  • Financial Savvy

  • Strictly confidential: personal information is not disclosed without permission.
  • Free of charge: does not sell or offer any fee-based services.
