Introducing NCADEMI: The National Center on Accessible Digital Educational Materials & Instruction

Excerpt from a post by Cynthia Curry on WebAIM's blog

Tomorrow, October 1st, marks a significant milestone in WebAIM’s 25 year history of expanding the potential of the web for people with disabilities. In partnership with our colleagues at the Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice at Utah State University, we’re launching a new technical assistance center. The National Center on Accessible Digital Educational Materials & Instruction (NCADEMI) will help improve access to technology and learning for students with disabilities from preschool through high school graduation. Our initialism, NCADEMI, is pronounced “n-cademy.”

Learn more about NCADEMI, and access the Roadmap, at ncademi.org. While visiting the website, be sure to sign up for email notifications and connect with us on LinkedIn.

EDUCATION LEADERS:

The U.S. Department of Justice has issued a rule requiring accessible websites and mobile apps in your state and local education agencies. Are you ready? The Institute’s NCADEMI can help! Read and download the free roadmap today.

Public & School Partnership Now Under New Leadership

The Public and School Partnership at Utah State University received new leadership this fall.

PSP is now led by Roseline Hill, the new program director. She comes to Utah State University via South Africa, where she gained more than 20 years’ experience in nonprofit work in human rights and rights for women. She replaces Mark Larese-Casanova, who left to become an assistant professor in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.

Jessica Jeppesen started with PSP in June and is now its current program coordinator.

News From Around IDRPP

As part of the 2024 Utah Urban Rural Specialized Transit Association (URSTA) Conference, IDRPP's Mary Ellen Heiner led Utah bus drivers in a wheelchair experience. Participants experienced some of the barriers that individuals on wheelchairs face every day.

In other news, IDRPP's TAESE team was in Lexington, Kentucky supporting the Director of Special Education (DOSE) Institute. TAESE provided the planning committee facilitation and logistics support. TAESE also presented a session on the KY LEADS and KY GUIDES projects. There were 285 participants. And that was just one item in many. Thanks for your hard work, TAESE!
