Summer Youth Employment Program Restored to Previous Funding Levels
Through Collaboration of Three Local Funders
During a year when so much has been changed, and as we emerge from the limitations brought on by a worldwide pandemic, there have been many moments of victory when we, as a community, come together and are able to successfully keep some key traditions going.
One such victory recently happened for the Summer Youth Employment Program, due to collaboration between Park Foundation, Community Foundation of Tompkins County, and United Way of Tompkins County.
Center for Transformative Action Observes 50 Years of Achievement
This year, the Center for Transformative Action (CTA) is celebrating five decades of fostering over 100 transformative social justice initiatives in New York State. CTA currently supports 30 innovative projects under its umbrella through incubator
and fiscal sponsorship services as well as educational programs. CTA is an education-based 501(c)3 affiliated with Cornell and based in Ithaca since 1971.
CTA provides fiscal sponsorship to social entrepreneurs who align with its mission, offering services and guidance that include grants management, accounting, insurance and payroll, educational programming, and networking with other social entrepreneurs and leaders. Five staff members make up CTA’s core team, supported by a board of directors and advisory volunteers for each of its 30 projects.
The Center helps create communities that are socially just, ecologically sound and work for everyone. They provide educational programs and fiscal sponsorship services to innovative social change initiatives.
Community Foundation has granted nearly 100 grants to CTA totaling more than $330,000 since 2004.
