Welcoming Fall

The Change of The Seasons:

A Time of Reflection

Dwight Wilson, Executive Director

Leading into the year’s end, the fall season offers a time to reflect on and cherish what we have accomplished. As a successful end-of-life residence for our Rogue Valley community, we provide the level of service that our Founders dreamed of: culturally sensitive, highly personalized, and dignified end-of-life care.

I attribute a good portion of our success to our very effective governing Board of Directors, especially their securing adequate resources and planning for Southern Oregon Friends of Hospice. The HUB continues to thrive and provides a significant contribution to the organization.

It is equally important to talk about how vital your support is to our Mission and what we accomplish because of your generosity.

We serve all who need us without regard to their financial circumstances, and provide holistic care based on the desires and needs of our residents and their families. Our beautiful home is maintained by ongoing upkeep and replacement requirements. In addition, we coordinate over 160 volunteers that provide an enormous value to Celia’s House and The HUB.

Fall is a critical time for our fundraising to maintain this high level of service. With the growing demand of people who cannot afford to pay our fees and the overall increase in the cost of care, the amount we charge for our rooms covers only 70% of the actual cost of the comprehensive care we provide.

Your generosity to our Care Fund is invaluable to residents in financial need. We pride ourselves on keeping our administrative costs low and directing your support to the care of residents at the end of their lives. When you read our annual report in November you will be touched by the personal expressions of gratitude that individuals share with us. In short, we are working hard to keep your confidence, knowing how meaningful your gift is to our Mission.

Please, when you are thinking about your fall gift, IRA distribution, or other forms of giving, keep us in your heart so we can continue to support those we serve. Donate Today

September Volunteer Appreciation Brunch at Celia's House

Last Saturday was Celia’s House volunteer appreciation brunch, and it was a beautiful morning with special people. Celia’s House and Friends of Hospice wouldn’t be where we are without our dedicated and warm-hearted volunteers who bring so much support and compassion to our residents and their families.

Whether it’s greeting visitors, helping in the kitchen or garden, sitting at residents' bedside, playing music, offering massage, fresh cut flowers, sound therapy, or reiki—every volunteer plays a vital role in the model of care at Celia’s House.

This was a morning together to celebrate each of you and shower you with the appreciation you deserve.

We have over 100 volunteers at Celia’s House! Interested in joining the team here? Contact our volunteer coordinator Brie at brieann.belanger@sofriendsofhospice.org

Ways to Support Celia's House

Your generosity provides essential comfort and care to our residents and their families. There are several meaningful ways to contribute:

Operations: Celia's House operates on a model that welcomes everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. However, the amount we charge for our rooms covers only 70% of the comprehensive care we provide. We have to fundraise to make up the difference in the cost of care. Give a general donation to support Celia's House operations today

  • The Care Fund: This fund directly supports families in financial need, ensuring everyone has access to the high-quality care they deserve at the end of life. Give to the Care Fund today
  • Recliners for Residents: Over the years, our resident’s reclining chairs have provided relief and support, but after six years of constant use, they need replacement. One recliner has already been funded, but we still need eleven more to ensure all residents can rest safely and comfortably in their rooms.
  • Help purchase recliners today

Every gift, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of our residents Thank you for your support!

Monthly Death Cafes at Celia's House

Celia's House has partnered with Southern Oregon Living & Dying Alliance (SOLADA) to facilitate a Death Cafe the third Wednesday of every month at Celia's House. See details below:

Caregiver Tip of the Month

Make time for yourself. Take time every day for an activity you enjoy, such as reading, walking, crafts, cooking or listening to music. Whatever makes you happy and relaxes you can be therapeutic.

Quotes From Families

"Hospice at its very best. I couldn't ask for a better place to care for my Dad. The surrounding gardens are outstanding and the environment created by the staff and volunteers is wonderful." -J
