Whole Child Month challenge: Focus on the present

Taking care of kids is the job of an entire community – from families to schools to neighbors and everyone in between. In Tacoma, we embrace that idea with the Whole Child approach – that all of us fully support kids from morning to night. We want them to feel safe, healthy, challenged, engaged and supported in every part of their life.

A key part of that approach is social emotional learning, which starts with building healthy relationships. Today, or any day in Whole Child Month, consider taking a step in your social emotional learning by completing an activity on the Whole Child activity calendar:

Take a break from electronics today, even for a short time. Focus on the present.

Take a look at this January calendar of activities created for families to do together.

2023 Rainiers jersey design contest now open for students in grades 3-8

Tacoma Public Schools is once again teaming up with the Tacoma Rainiers to host a jersey design contest for students in grades 3 to 8.

Students can submit unique jersey designs to show what they love about Tacoma. Designers should use the Rainiers’ jersey template and submit all contest entries by Feb. 10. The Rainiers will review submissions and select a winner.

The winning design will be replicated on jerseys that the Rainiers players will wear during a 2023 game. The student winner will receive a jersey to keep, four Summit Club tickets to the 2023 TPS Night at the Rainiers and throw out the first pitch at the game.
