So

The generosity you've poured into supporting this work we do together these past few months has been nothing short of amazing!

Initially, I drafted this intro to include a short-list of some of the extraordinary acts of generosity that have been extended to the KLT family just in the past week. But, even that was too long. So, suffice it to say, we see you. We love you. We never stop appreciating every single thing you do to further this vital work we are doing together.

DRY AS DIRT

Katie missed the deadline for last month's Dry As Dirt because she was out of the country. In the October letter, she takes us along on her trip to Prince Edward Island, sharing what she learned along while taking a very long walk. READ IT

CONSERVATION

CAN WE MOVE ANY ASTER?

We wish we could snap our fingers and make the move to our new home at Aster Garden Center instantly, but alas, there is a lot of work to do.

Thankfully, we have had so many people with building skills step forward to help. We are currently preparing to submit remodel (albeit small) plans to the City of Sandpoint in order to get our building permit. In the meantime, If you'd like to help on our building project, talk to Katie.

There will be lots of other opportunities to volunteer - weeding, watering, Kitty-cuddling, etc. once the garden center opens this spring. If this sounds fun to you, and you haven't already reached out, you can contact Katie about that too.

Prefer a paid gig? The Aster Nursery Manager job description is hot off the presses and being released to you here first!

ALL HANDS ON DECK

I can't think of a time since I've been part of the KLT family when we've had so many volunteer projects. And it's cool because people are always asking us how they can help. There are currently 6 projects listed on our Volunteer calendar, from trail work to fire tending to event tear-down and beyond. I'm about to add a few more, too.

COMMUNITY

FOR THE LOCALS

Do you know someone who has been paying for rent and is ready to start earning equity in homeownership. We have four homes available in Priest River. AT $270,000 these 4 new duplexes, at over 1,500 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are waiting to help our workforce build equity and stability. The Village at Riverview Ridge is a partner project with Kaniksu Land Trust, LEAP Housing and Bonner Community Housing Agency. Check it out and share this opportunity widely.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Get Plowed - the annual fundraiser for the Pine Street Woods access road winter maintenance - isn't until November 12th. But, this year, you can get your raffle tickets early, like now. And the raffle items are sexier than ever - an IKON Pass from Schweitzer (yep you heard that right!) and a group ride experience at Panhandle Bike Ranch! EVENTS/CLASSES

FALL FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

Even though we are not in our new digs yet, you can check out the work in progress this Saturday at Kaniksu Folk School's Fall Folk Festival. It's our first public event there and we'd love to see you - rain or shine, most likely rain. But don't worry, we will keep you covered while you enjoy demos, vendor booths, kids activities, comfort food, and campfires. And, it wouldn't be a true community event if we didn't have some opportunities to engage as a volunteer. Learn more about that HERE.

Once you get a taste of what Kaniksu Folk School is about, you'll naturally want to sign up for one of the workshops in the Fall Class Lineup. Find your people and your next muse at an upcoming session.
