GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Monday, May 31, 2021) – Longest shot in the inaugural Memorial Day Sprint field takes home the prize. Joe R. Peacock Jr.'s Our Iris Rose under Richard Eramia broke perfect pressing the early leader, Ain't No Elmers. Her bid out of the turn was enough to put the leader away and hold off a fast closing favorite Mundaye Call in the final furlong. 2-5 favorite Mundaye Call was off slow and nearly caught the winner.
"She broke really sharp and I was thinking the last time she ran on the turf, she was really fit enough to run the race and move earlier too. She did a good job," said winning
jockey Richard Eramia.
Our Iris Rose crossed the wire in 1:10.27 for the six furlong contest followed by favorite Mundaye Call, Ain't No Elmers, Palio Flag and His Glory.
A 4-yr-old filly by Ghostzapper, out of Rose's Desert bankrolled $60,000 for the effort putting her career total at $169,837. And at 23-1 she put $48.40 in her supporters pockets as well.
