$10K grant will enhance young-adult section

Project to create a dedicated space for teen readers

We're so excited to move forward with a long-desired goal of enhancing library service to our community's teenagers. This grant funding will allow us to add new bookshelves, doubling our shelf capacity for young-adult books. We'll also reorganize the section and create a small seating and study area just for teens! We expect to complete the project in December 2026.

Together with families, churches, schools, and community organizations, we want to prepare our teenagers to lead the community confidently as they enter adulthood.

Please join us March 5 for the presentation of our grant award. Pizza Hut will distribute free pizza to all attendees!

Internship offers unique experience for youth age 13-17

Teens work hard, have fun at the library

Our annual internship program is an integral part of summer reading and offers an opportunity for youth in our community to practice communication skills, leadership, and team building in a professional environment. Interns spend Monday-Thursday at the library the entire month of June.

The application deadline is May 1. The internship is competitive since only a few slots are available, and the application will close when all internship slots are filled. For more information, visit our website.

Seeking partnerships for Summer Reading

Support literacy, encourage connection

Every year, we depend on your support to create an engaging, educational Summer Reading program for the children in our community. The entire month of June, children read to earn prizes, and attend weekly on-site experiences.

In conjunction with Summer Reading, we also offer an Adult Reading Challenge that allows adults to log their reading time for a chance to win prize packages.

You can help by:

  • Volunteering as a presenter for the children's program
  • Donating toward the purchase of reading incentives for children and adults

To partner with us by donating reading prizes in the form of in-kind donations such as coupons, gift cards, and vouchers, give us a call at 979-542-2716. Together, we can inspire a lifetime love of reading!

Booklists offer reading suggestions

When visiting our online catalog, select the "booklist" tab under the "What's Hot" menu to find curated lists of books. Next time you're stumped about what to read, check out a booklist!

Everything Sad Is Untrue

Khosrou and his family are forced to flee Iran when his mother becomes a Christian. But the journey from Iran to Oklahoma is about more than the vast distance — it's about Khosrou's very existence. -JA

Number of years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This 4th of July, our nation celebrates its semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary. Visit us in March and April to view the Texas America250 exhibit. You can also participate in the reading challenge. Learn more here.

We distributed 29 Book Buddies at this year's Valentine's Day giveaway!
