I Work with Artists:

Aligning & Not Duplicating Resources

How deeply are you listening and responding to the needs of the artists you serve? Are you simply offering programs in isolation, or are you actively building bridges that expand possibilities? From sporadic efforts to strategic collaborative action, this framework challenges us to move beyond survival and toward a thriving, interconnected cultural ecosystem. Where do you stand and where do you want to grow?

Defiance

Tell us about yourself.

I am ready to go to the next level, nationally! I met so many artists and art administrators at the Artists Thrive Summit who have planted the seed in my brain to apply for exhibits or residencies in San Antonio or Nashville. I met an Accountability Partner too. I loved see the many museums and studios we toured in Kansas City as I can now have a real vision for my future studio.

My art was born out of a dark period of the Covid pandemic when we lost our small retail boutique. But the greater blessing was discovering my artistic voice, creating a lot of artwork that first year, and applying to my first juried show. Since then, I've been in more than 50 group shows, and 3 solo shows. I see a future where I continue to expand my artistic skills, fueled by passion, and a desire to bring more joy to the world.

What makes you Thrive?

I thrive when I collaborate! Since the Artists Thrive Summit in Kansas City, I have scheduled a Zoom call with a dozen or more women artists from the greater St. Louis region to join together on a call to hear "veteran" attendees talk about their experiences at this year's AT Summit. I want to inspire other women artists to attend and utilize the many resources. Additionally, I am participating with 6 other women artists at a "Garden Party and Art Pop-Up" to showcase our work and share our followers and fans. This event will take place the end of June over a 2-day period. We all win when we help promote each other!

There will be a "Collaboration" themed art show at Artisans in the Loop in St Louis. A photographer and myself are teaming up to enter the show with her photography placed in a jewelry-mosaic decorated frame made by me. Should be really fun. Her subject matter will be two animals together -- again showing collaboration in nature.
