I Work with Artist:

Non Arts Sector Readiness

Imagine the untapped potential in your community if artists were not just occasional guests, but trusted partners in shaping its future. Where does your organization truly stand? Are you unaware of the role artists could play, just starting to consider it, cautiously building pathways, or fully embracing creative voices as equal drivers of civic change? The journey from silence to thriving is not only about inviting artists in but also about embedding their perspectives, skills, and practices into the heart of community work so that together you can reclaim, reimagine, and revitalize shared spaces in lasting ways.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

MARIANNE DINAPOLI-MYLET

North Carolina

Tell us about yourself.

I am a NC based multidisciplinary artist exploring reflections of spiritual, societal, familial and experiential connections in my life. After nearly 35 years as a community muralist, my focus shifted to creating my story. Motivated by feminine/arboreal forms in boldly emotive and gestural poses I, sometimes, combine traditional elements and found or repurposed objects, - Catholic paraphernalia, vintage lace, onion bags – to develop sculptures and mixed media pieces that define space through fluidity, pattern, cadence and feminine magic gleaned from my immigrant, matriarchal forbears.

I thrive when I...

create whether its art or music or dancing or cooking or even putting an outfit together for a night out.

Podcast: Immersive Theater Wins 21st-Century Fans: Artistic Director Graham Wetterhahn

At a time when theaters everywhere are competing with an ever-expanding array of at-home entertainment and struggling to fill seats, some artists are asking not what plays to produce but how to produce them differently. Graham Wetterhahn’s answer was to found his own company, After Hours Theatre Company (opens in new tab) in Los Angeles. With a background that spans traditional theater, theme parks and digital media, he has spent recent years creating “immersive-enhanced” productions that invite audiences not just to watch a story unfold but to step directly into it.
