I Am an Artists: Sources of Income

Take a moment to reflect on where your income truly comes from and what it represents. Does your work reflect who you are, or does it simply keep you afloat? Are you silenced, earning from places that don’t connect to your vision? In struggle, where some of your income feels right but the balance leaves you unsatisfied? Maybe you’re in survive, where you’ve begun to shift toward purpose-driven work but still have room to grow. Or perhaps you’re in thrive, where every dollar earned supports the life and values you’ve chosen. Wherever you land, let this reflection guide your next step toward alignment.

Culture Keeper Mutual Aid Network

Culture Keepers are the artists, scholars, and administrators who preserve, interpret, and reimagine the stories that shape our communities. Yet these vital cultural workers are often left vulnerable when funding is cut or priorities shift. In response to recent federal reductions to the NEA, NEH, and IMLS, Higher Ground Society is launching the Culture Keeper Mutual Aid Network, a collective effort to sustain and empower those who keep our culture alive. The network connects cultural workers through a public Register for career opportunities, shared workshops for professional growth, and a Mutual Aid Fund providing financial relief in times of need. By joining or contributing, you help ensure that those who nurture our nation’s creative spirit can continue their essential work.
