We purchased the entire vintage! It is now a Timeless Wines exclusive! The wine picked up 3 scores before it even left the country it was produced in.
The grapes were meticulously sourced, with 20 months aging in mixed French and American oak barrels. The wine is bottle-aged to perfection and in the Top 100 with 95 & 93 Points scores. It is produced by David Bryson, who is becoming one of Australia's top winemakers. What more can you ask for?
I first tasted this wine with David a few years back and it was near perfection then. When I asked David when I could have it, his response was, "It's not quite there yet". Now, two years later, nearly 7 years after it was bottled, the tannins are finely integrated with the well-extracted Shiraz (60%) and Cabernet (40%). The acidic backing is holding the wine together in a well-structured mecca of ripe berry flavors and we expect our teeth to stay stained purple for the foreseeable future.
David's goal was the fusion of two exceptional parcels of Shiraz and Cabernet. My first thought was comparing this to splitting 10's on the blackjack table. You already have the second best hand possible, why risk it? That's what separates the great winemakers from the safe and steady winemakers. They take risks and when it pays off, we all win big.
