RSDM Opens New $16 Million Research Space

RSDM on Friday marked the grand opening of its expanded research facilities, completed with $16 million in state funding. The new facilities, totaling 25,000 square feet, include an expansion of the Center for Oral Biology, where researchers are working on treatments for cancer, systemic illnesses and drug-resistant pathogens, in addition to oral health diseases.  LEARN MORE

Dean Helps Lead Effort to End Live Patient Licensure Exams

The existing dental licensure process should be replaced by a standardized system that avoids the unpredictability of recruiting human patients, said RSDM Dean Cecile A. Feldman, co-chair of a task force that recommended the changes. The practice of granting dental licenses based on live patients can be fraught with complications and expense for students and varies too widely from state to state, said Dean Feldman.  The recommendations, which would radically alter the process of licensure, were supported by three major dental and educational organizations.  LEARN MORE

Dean Cecile A. Feldman shared her response to the mass shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue last month, reaffirming RSDM's commitment to diversity and compassion. RSDM proved once again that you can celebrate Halloween and still promote oral health. Throughout our clinics on October 31, students, staff and faculty greeted patients with costumes that ran the gamut from unicorns to wildcats.


Celebration to Honor RSDM Employees Slated for Nov. 28

Nanina's in the Park
Staff and faculty marking milestone work anniversaries will be honored at a Nov. 28  employee celebration at Nanina's in the Park in Belleville at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for faculty, staff and guests but honorees marking five-year work anniversaries get in free.
