This funding includes  $603,500  in competitive arts and culture grants chosen by the foundation’s Community Investment Committee. A $10,000 grant to  Keepers of the Art Education will support its Hip-Hop Preservation Project (HHPP), which seeks to counteract the corporatization of rap music. HHPP is a series of events that aim to highlight, safeguard, and  share hip-hop’s history and importance in Black society.
Akron Community Foundation recently welcomed nine new charitable funds to its growing family. These funds will empower artists, provide postsecondary scholarships, support mental health initiatives, and more.
In June, The Center for Family Philanthropy at Akron Community Foundation announced its 2021-22 Institute for Emerging Philanthropists class. Participants in the institute are exposed to the critical needs of the community and taught innovative, evidence-based methods of practicing strategic philanthropy, while connecting with a network of highly motivated professionals who have a desire to improve our community.  The upcoming program will begin this fall with nine class members.
With thoughtful planning, you can leave a significant impact on your community through a bequest from your will or trust. One benefit of making a bequest is that it allows you to continue to use the property you plan to leave to charity during your lifetime.
