Student Schedule Change Days
Attention Students:
This is just a reminder that we will have schedule change days on the following dates:
August 12-13 for grades 9-11
August 15 for grade 12
This is on a first come, first served basis, so you may have to wait if there is a line. We will not be accepting appointments on these days. If you are unable to make these dates, no worries, we still have plenty of time before school starts where we can set up an appt. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your summer and see you all soon!

Please Welcome Our New Principal: | |
Mr. Linssen, Principal:
Dear MHS Families,
I hope this message finds you well after enjoying the first two months of summer vacation. With great excitement, I am introducing myself as principal and the newest Marinette High School team member.
Let me share a bit about my personal journey. I hail from the Lakewood-Mountain area of Oconto County and later moved to Oconto Falls, where I graduated from Oconto Falls High School. It was there that I met my wife, Gina. We are blessed with our son Adrian, who is our pride and joy. When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, hunting and fishing, which have become cherished family pastimes, especially when we're not traveling for Adrian’s hockey tournaments.
Professionally, I bring over 20 years of educational experience to Marinette High School, including 13 years as a high school administrator, with the last seven years being at Pulaski High School. I have taken on various roles throughout my career, such as principal, associate principal, teacher, advisor, coach, mentor, and athletic director. Each role has uniquely contributed to my professional growth and skill set.
I am absolutely thrilled to embark on this journey with you in the upcoming school year. I am eager to see what the future holds and to meet each and every one of you as the school year unfolds. I wish you all a fantastic end to your summer vacation!
Go Marines!!!
Best regards,
Mr. Steve Linssen

MR. DRAHEIM, Assistant Principal:
Dear MHS Families!
Greetings from Marinette High School! We are nearing the start of our 2024-25 school year. Time flies when you’re having fun! Hopefully all our students are getting ready for the start of the school year, or maybe they don’t want to think about that quite yet. Regardless, I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to our High School!
Parents/Guardians, I wanted to give you a few helpful reminders and dates so you can plan the remainder of the summer. If your student(s) is involved in any sports the start dates are listed below as well as the Fall Sports Night for that activity:
The WIAA dates for first practice for each Fall Sport are as follows:
August 6th – Football & Cheerleading
August 12th – Girls Golf
August 13th – Girls Swimming & Girls Tennis
August 19th – Cross Country, Volleyball and Boys Soccer
This year’s Fall sports Parent & Athlete meetings are taking place on the following dates and times:
Monday, August 5th at 6:00pm – Football and Cheerleading
Monday, August 12th at 6:00pm – Girls Golf, Boys Soccer, Girls Swimming, Girls Tennis and
Volleyball.
Monday, August 19th at 6:00pm – Cross Country
We have found that the more students are involved in an activity in school, the better their grades and attendance can be so even if they’re thinking about joining an activity, now is the time!
As we get ready for the start of the school year, parents/guardians, please remember a few things: First, make it a habit for your son/daughter to be at school every day. There are days where they will be sick or have appointments, but only 10 days are authorized by the state to be excused without a doctor’s note. We ended the school year last year with a 90% attendance rate, which is good, but we can do better. We will continue to do the positive attendance incentives throughout the year!
Second, please remember to check Skyward and Canvas grades often to make sure students are staying up to date with their grades. Missed assignments and tests can bring down a grade very quickly. When students stay on track to graduation, they will have an opportunity to do Youth Apprenticeships, or leave school early to work.
Finally, if you have a student who drives to school, please remind them they need to park in the student parking stalls, not the staff parking stalls. This last summer, the parking lots have been resurfaced so the students will park in the yellow stalls and the staff will have blue stalls so there should not be any confusion on where to park. Remember, students parking in our lot is a privilege, not a right. Finally, our New Student Orientation will be on Wednesday, August 28th in our High School Commons. It begins at 5 pm with a cookout provided by our excellent Booster Club. Then at about 5:30 pm we begin the formal program and should be completed by 7 pm. The school year will go by very quickly and before we know it, graduation will be upon us and the end of the school year! Let’s make this year fantastic!
Go Marines!
Sincerely,
Matt Draheim

August 6th - 1st Day of Football & Cheerleading Practice
August 12th - Parent & Athlete Meeting for Girls Golf, Boys Soccer, Girls Tennis, Girls Swimming & Volleyball, 6:00pm, MHS Commons
August 12th - 1st Day of Girls Golf Practice

August 19th - Parent & Athlete Meeting for Cross Country, 6:00pm, MHS Commons
August 19th - 1st Day of Cross Country, Volleyball & Boys Soccer Practice
Any student interested in participating in these sports is expected to attend the meeting with their parents, especially if they are a Freshman or playing their first Marine sport.
Before an athlete is authorized to participate in practices, games or tryouts, they must have an up-to-date athletic physical, completed by a licensed physician. Physical examinations are valid for two years, if you are unsure if your child needs a physical, please contact the high school office.
Physical examinations can be completed at Bellin Urgent Care in Marinette for $20. That $20 then gets donated back to MHS. You can also schedule Physical exams with your primary care provider, however, you usually will have to wait a couple weeks before getting in for an appointment.
Physical examination forms are available in the high school office and can be turned into the office once completed by a licensed physician. The physical examination form can also be downloaded for print at this link:
