2022 Massican "Annia" Napa Valley White Wine

93 Points - Decanter:

The Annia 2022 combines 41% Ribolla Gialla, 33% Tocai Friulano, and 26% Chardonnay from Napa and Sonoma. It offers an intriguing aromatic panoply of celery root, lavender, jasmine, and lilies of the valley, along with plenty of citrus zest. A silky fruit profile reveals a medium-bodied white redolent of poached pear, yellow apple, and melon. Hints of white pepper add more intrigue, and a beguiling mid-palate density cleansed with tart citrus-bright acidity beckons sip after sip.

"The 2022 Annia California White Wine is a blend of 41% Ribolla Gialla, 33% Tocai Friulano, and the rest Chardonnay. In the glass, it pours a bright straw hue and is fresh with aromas of ripe pear, white strawberries, saline, almond, and fresh dewy flowers. Full-bodied, with a supple creamy texture and a rounded mouthfeel, it has notes of candle wax and a long, clean, savory finish with lingering notes of marzipan. Winery Notes:

Our flagship white wine blend sourced from small vineyards around the Napa Valley. The three grape varietals, Tocai Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Chardonnay, are harvested separately and fermented independently in French Oak and stainless steel tanks until blending six weeks before bottling. The Tocai and Ribolla build the aroma and flavor profile of the wine, while the Chardonnay adds to the wine’s structure. The wine is fresh and subtle and fulfills the promise set forth years ago to bottle memorable white wines, unique amongst the whites of California.

2023 Massican Gemina Napa Valley White Blend

92 Points - James Suckling:

"An Italian-style white blend of Greco, Falanghina, and Fiano from three districts of California, inspired by Campania. It is super crisp, acidic, and mouth-puckering, with intense lemon, lime, grapefruit, and green apple flavors accented by minerals and white pepper. Light-bodied, it is made for food pairing."

Winery Notes:

Greco 60%, Falanghina 23%, Fiano 17% Gemina is the name of an ancient Roman grape planted in the region around the Massican hills of southern Italy. This grape variety originates from Greece, dating back to the first century when it was first called Aminea Gemina. Gemina is a unique, white wine blend combining grapes originally from the south of Italy and now planted here in California. This blend balances our winery’s familial history in the south of Italy with our passion for the fresh white wines of the Mediterranean.

2023 Massican Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay Napa Valley

94 Points - James Suckling:

"Fermented and aged in 100% large new oak barrels, this is a tradition-breaking, linear wine from the famous Hyde Vineyard in Carneros. Using Musque clone vines, it produces a slightly floral, peachy, jicama-tasting wine that’s light-bodied, mineral-laden, and energized with acidity."

Winery Notes:

We are proud to source the Chardonnay for this wine from Hyde Vineyard, one of California's most famous and historic Chardonnay vineyards, founded by Larry Hyde in Carneros in 1979. Tucked away in the southern part of Napa Valley, the entire estate is a gorgeous expanse of rolling hills with southeast exposure and saline morning fog. The parcel of Musque clone of Chardonnay that makes up this bottling was planted in 1992. The wine is fermented and aged in French Oak, then bottled as this single-vineyard wine.
