We are celebrating our 8th anniversary this week! SCTB started out as a side project for me in 2013, and we have continued to crank out news about the regional tech ecosystem since then.

Of much more significance, this week UCSC marks the 20th anniversary of posting the assembled genome project to the internet. And, thanks to UCSC, it is there for everyone to see, free and unrestricted. Each month, more than 100K researchers from around the world use the Genome Browser to uncover the causes of disease and develop new treatments.
