This 70-YEAR-OLD Vineyard is in the HEART of Meursault, literally right in the middle, yet technically can't be labeled as such.

This is the White Burgundy DEAL of the DECADE.

Only 4 barrels were made instead of their usual 20 barrels.

This wine simply shouldn't exist.

You can see in the header graphic that the Les Herbeaux lieu-dit, a 1.75-acre parcel planted in 1953, is just a mere couple-hundred feet away from its adjacent Premier Cru-Caliber Les Malpoiriers vineyard.

That vineyard is used by producers like LEFLAIVE and COCHE DURY.

You don't have to pay hundreds or a four-digit-figure for this unfathomable value though.

In fact—you won't pay anywhere near what a Premier Cru Meursault would cost.

All of Vincent Bitouzet's vineyards are farmed organically. He's been in partnership with famed importer Neil Rosenthal for over 30 years, bringing incredible old-school Burgundy to wine lovers in the U.S. His great-great-grandfather established the domaine, and when Vincent married Anne Prieur she brought her own winemaking lineage along with "significant" vineyard holdings: only 29 acres in Volnay and Meursault.

Vinous:

"The 2021 Bourgogne Chardonnay, which is aged in one- to three-year-old oak, has a clean and precise bouquet with lemon verbena and Golden Delicious scents, a touch of white peach. The palate is well balanced with a waxy/resinous opening, fine acidity, quite taut with fine extract on the finish. A solid, very satisfying regional white. Drink between 2023-2029." -NM (10/23)

Technical:

Bitouzet works a 0.71-hectare parcel of vines in the lieu-dit Les Herbeaux in northern Meursault, adjacent to premier cru Les Malpoiriers, and planted in the early 1950s (with a portion replanted in 2010). Aged 12 months on its fine lees in 228-liter barrels, a maximum of 15% of which are new, the domaine’s Bourgogne Blanc presents as a Meursault in miniature, with sneaky power, pronounced salinity, and a tightly coiled structure that rewards a few years of cellaring.
