Digest #374

We have a very full digest this week!

My favorite story is a feel-good exclusive about a local couple who took advantage of a Google (Looker) employee program that offers a $10K match for charitable contributions. With the first payout from Google's acquisition of Looker, they worked with Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County to set up a Donor Advised Fund (DAF).

My favorite funding news this week: The Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) at CSUMB has been awarded a $749K federal grant to support regional entrepreneurs impacted by COVID-19.

We also have news about changes at UCSC's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development (CIED) and UCSC's launch of The Innovation and Business Engagement Hub which will serve as a connection point for UCSC's innovation ecosystem and a consistent point of entry for potential industry partners and supporters.

Plus, we have news from Paystand, SupplyShift, Joby Aviation (in Popular Science), and (ICYMI) about Apple's plan to build a battery-based solar energy storage project in Monterey County.
