ACF distributes $4.3 million in quarterly grants

Akron Community Foundation announced quarterly grants totaling more than $4.3 million, benefiting hundreds of nonprofits in our community and beyond. Grants approved this quarter include:


Health and Human Services grants totaling $849,167

Grants included in this round of funding will support programs that meet the basic needs of area residents, including those that address food insecurity, housing and more. Nearly $35,000 was awarded to the International Institute of Akron to provide extended social services for refugees and immigrants, many of whom have been cut off from previously existing resettlement funded services like health care, housing and education. Bath Community Fund grants totaling $40,000

The fund awarded 19 grants totaling $40,000 to nonprofit organizations serving Bath Township. Several of the grants awarded in 2025 will support recreational programming in the community, including a $7,000 grant to the Bath Park Board to install a new climbing dome at the recently renovated Bath Community Park. Millennium Fund for Children grants totaling $63,000

The Millennium Fund for Children awarded 40 grants totaling $63,000 to children's programs throughout the Greater Akron area. Several organizations received grants this year, including Akron Public Schools’ North High School, which will receive $1,000 to help preserve historical school artifacts by digitally scanning them to create a virtual reality tour of the school hallways. Learn more.

Visit The Soul of Philanthropy exhibit at the Akron Art Museum – on view for free through Valentine's Day

Now on view for free in the lobby of the Akron Art Museum, The Soul of Philanthropy Akron illuminates the powerful legacy of Black generosity through stunning photography, compelling stories, and interactive moments of reflection. This national touring exhibit was brought to Akron through a partnership between the Black Giving Collective Fund, Akron Community Foundation, the Akron Urban League and the Akron Art Museum.


This inspiring exhibit invites visitors to explore how everyday acts of giving have shaped communities for generations. Stop by, linger, and leave with a renewed sense of what philanthropy can mean for all of us. The exhibit only runs through Valentine's Day, so don't wait to check it out.

Brian Reitz announced as new vice president of community investment

Congratulations to longtime staff member Brian Reitz, who was recently promoted to Vice President, Community Investment effective Jan. 5, 2026. Brian joined the foundation in September 2017 as the community foundation's first agency endowment and engagement officer, working with nonprofits in the community to establish or grow their endowments. In his new role, Brian will be responsible for leading the foundation’s community investment strategies, including grantmaking, nonprofit partnerships and community leadership initiatives. Prior to joining the foundation, Brian served as executive director for Hale Farm & Village and Habitat for Humanity of Portage County. Brian is a graduate of Kent State University.

Fall/Winter Foundations magazine now available

Check out the newest issue of our magazine, which includes information about The Soul of Philanthropy and the Black Giving Collective Fund, as well as a touching profile on this year's Polsky recipients, David and Cheryl Venarge. Also included in this issue is information on year-end giving, our latest financials, and the latest news and events from Akron Community Foundation and our seven affiliate funds.

ACF welcomes 8 new funds

Akron Community Foundation recently welcomed eight new charitable funds to our growing family, including The Healing Sanctuary Fund, which was established to support the Healing Sanctuary's mission of providing women facing cancer with a restorative retreat where they are nurtured, supported and empowered through holistic healing, self-care practices and compassionate community.
