Akron Community Foundation announced quarterly grants and distributions totaling $4,735,503, benefiting hundreds of nonprofits in our community and beyond. Grants approved this quarter include:

Health & Human Services grants totaling $812,750

Grants included in this round of funding will support programs that meet the basic needs of area residents, including those that address mental health, substance use disorders, housing and more. A $5,000 grant to Beacon Charitable Pharmacy will help provide free and reduced-price medication for residents who are uninsured and lack the ability to obtain medicine. Last year, the nonprofit also launched a mobile pharmacy to help bring equitable health care access to the neighborhoods that need it most. Learn more.

Bath Community Fund grants totaling $50,000

The fund has now distributed more than $300,000 since it began awarding grants in 2016. Grants benefit nonprofit organizations serving the Bath community, including Greenleaf Family Center, which received a grant to continue providing counseling to Revere Local School District students at risk of losing services due to financial hardship. Millennium Fund for Children grants totaling $60,200

The Millennium Fund for Children awarded grants to 35 nonprofits throughout the Greater Akron area. Established in 1999 as a partnership of the Akron Beacon Journal and Akron Community Foundation, the fund has awarded nearly 700 grants in total to programs that meet children’s basic needs, teach important life skills, enrich students’ lives through visual and performing arts, and much more. To celebrate its two-year anniversary, Green Community Fund will open its first-ever grantmaking cycle in January 2025, with plans to distribute $15,000 to nonprofit organizations operating within the City of Green. Special thanks to the Jeff Evans Insurance Agency/the Evans family, the Hollis family, the Shultz family, and the Read family for contributing to this initial round of grantmaking, which will allow the fund's advisory board to preserve and grow the endowment. Applications will be open from Jan. 2-20, 2025, and grants will be announced in March 2025. More details will be announced soon, and information about the fund is available at the link below.

Akron Community Foundation recently welcomed eight new charitable funds to our growing family, including an agency endowment fund established by Summit Choral Society that will provide area college students with experience in arts management while sharpening their musicianship skills.
