CIRM awards $4.96 million to Sanford Burnham Prebys to help the tiniest patients
Evan Y. Snyder, M.D., Ph.D., received funding from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) to advance a stem cell therapy that may protect newborns from brain damage due to oxygen and blood flow deprivation. Called perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury, the condition can cause cerebral palsy and other permanent neurological disorders.
