$4 Pattern Downloads!

I swatched the Lars Blanket lace pattern for several weeks ahead of a recent road trip from Arizona to Michigan. Those swatches gave me the basis for the needle size and width of the shawl that I was envisioning.

My eye was taken by the Deep Turquoise color in HiKoo Simplicity, so I was pretty sure that would be my choice. My spouse, Ed, helped me wind six skeins into cakes for the trip.

The Seattle Sky swatch shows the basic foggy gray in the zig zag lace pattern. Very nice! I knit Goldfish Yellow into a swatch, too, and it is a lovely sunlit color. Both would be great for Summer Waves Shawl.

Before the Trip -- Arizona: I knit swatches in Seattle Sky and Goldfish Yellow but settled on the Deep Turquoise yarn.

Day Two -- Oklahoma: The Summer Waves Shawl is coming along nicely. I started a second skein yesterday. It’s great travel knitting with just four rows of thinking (some knit, some purl) followed by six rows of garter stitch.

Day Six -- Michigan: By the Sixth Day of a Five Day Trip (yes, those things happen), I was well into the second skein of HiKoo Simplicity. My hands know the pattern; my brain is in auto drive. This is going faster than I thought.

I'm home! Time to unpack, knit some more and look for a dress for a June wedding that will go

with the Summer Waves Shawl.
