Sometimes, the most beautiful rescue stories are the ones that take a little extra time. This week, we are celebrating Dakota, a sweet soul who spent nine months in our care waiting for the perfect person to see her true worth.
Dakota arrived at Greenmore after being found as a stray in West Virginia, where she quickly landed on the "death row" list at an overcrowded shelter. We stepped in to save her, but we had no idea just how much impact she would eventually have on someone else’s life.
After nine months of patience, Dakota’s time finally came. A wonderful friend of the rescue sponsored her adoption, which paved the way for Dakota to meet the woman who would become her forever person.
Dakota now lives in an amazing home with a woman who uses a wheelchair, giving Dakota the new role of supporting her new mom.
We're so excited Dakota has found her true calling, proving that we really are "Saving People, One Dog at a Time".
