Help Us Make a Match!
$500,000 Challenge Gift Will Further Restore the
Jay Mansion for Students of All Ages

Donate between now and September 30th to help us raise $500,000 and unlock a matching challenge grant of $500,000 with a bonus $100K! We are already halfway there but need your help to finish! Thanks to two generous donors, we have the opportunity to further restore the Jay Mansion and create inspiring studio spaces and classrooms for the use of young scholars on the second floor which overlooks the entire park and Long Island Sound.

IF we can reach our goal in the next week and a half!

Your gift will be 100% tax-deductible and allow us to transform not 1 but 6 individual rooms upstairs into unparalleled, sunlit ateliers and gathering spaces for educators and students to use as research areas and exchange ideas all year long. The Jay Mansion is an ideal venue for public training of future historians, land stewards, and thought leaders in sustainability throughout New York State.

Help us make the match!

Donors to the challenge grant match will be acknowledged on a special wall of honor at the Jay Mansion.

NEW SCHOLARSHIP ABOUT RYE PRESENTED AT INAUGURAL O'NEILL FELLOWSHIP
On Friday, September 8, JHC hosted the inaugural Margaret Nolan O’Neill Fellowship Presentation. The fellowship was established in 2022 in memory of Maggie O’Neill, who studied Political Science and Government at Columbia University. The purpose of this academic opportunity is to advance scholarship in American History and foster respectful dialogue of topics relevant to the evolution of our nation, the shaping of its democracy and place in the global arena.

This year’s first O’Neill Fellow, Fenway Donegan, Class of 2025, presented his resulting work titled “Mere Occupants – Transfer and Seizure of Land During Rye’s First Century” to a mesmerized, capacity crowd.
FRIENDSHIP THROUGH JAPANESE ARTS AND CULTURE
Friday, September 29 - October 1

Join us for a weekend-long collaboration with three valued partners, the Japan Society of Greater Fairfield County (JSFC) the Topaz Museum in Delta, Utah and International Ikebana New York.

The event supports JSFC's dedication to building knowledge and mutual understanding between Japanese and Americans through educational, cultural and philanthropic programs. The weekend will include an outstanding flower display, the ceremonial dedication of a Higan cherry tree allée that is to be planted as part of the Jay Estate Gardens and an opening reception for the exhibit of a rare internment camp painting by master sumi-e painter and great post-war abstractionist Koho Yamamoto. The painting exhibit and flower show will be open to the public as part of New York State Parks' Hudson River Valley Ramble weekend and complement JHC's annual family fall festival, Jay Day.
