‘Realizing the American Dream’: TD Bank Awards Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce $750,000 Grant to Provide Educational Seminars to Small Businesses

Chamber to Partner with Citywide 5 Chamber Alliance, Nonprofits, TD to Assist Small Businesses and Home Owners

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a $750,000 grant from the TD Foundation to foster small business education and pathways to home ownership by partnering with nonprofits throughout the borough. The grant, which will be paid out over the course of three years, will allow the 5 Chamber Alliance to produce a bevy of small business education workshops, as well as seminars for potential home buyers, educating them on what mortgage lenders look for when they approve loans.
Commercial Lease Assistance Program Will Help Tenants with Lease Negotiation, Landlord Issues, Lease Renewal, and Eviction Notices

De Blasio administration announced the launch of a new program to help small business owners with issues related to a business lease. The Commercial Lease Assistance Program, offered by the NYC Department of Small Business Services, will allow small business owners to obtain free legal assistance on topics that include negotiating a lease, resolving landlord issues, responding to an eviction notice, breach of contract disputes, and lease renewal. Non-franchise businesses that meet income requirements are eligible for this service.

SI Chamber to Honor Business and Community Leaders at 24th Annual Louis R. Miller Business Leadership Awards Breakfast
The Staten Island Chamber of Commerce will honor eight of the borough’s business and community leaders at the 24th Annual Louis R. Miller Business Leadership Awards Breakfast, beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at Richmond County Country Club.

This year’s honorees are: Dr. Cynara Coomer , Chief of Breast Surgery and Director of The Florina Rusi Marke Comprehensive Breast Center at Staten Island University Hospital; Dr. Carolyn Raia , Director of the Virginia Gruppuso Breast Imaging Center at Staten Island University Hospital; Ms. Denise Henick , Director of Administration, Stop & Stor; Mr. Gregory Perillo , Master artist, Perillo's World of Fine Art; Mr. Scott Weisberg , President, Everything Entertainment; Mr. Ken Tirado , President/Owner, Killmeyer's Old Bavaria Inn; Mr. Frank Siller , Chairman/CEO, Stephen Siller Tunnels To Towers Foundation; and Mr. Alan Aurelia , Music Director, Richmond County Orchestra.
Gabrielle Garcia, CEO of Stench Snipers and 2017 national YEA! winner shared tips with this year’s class as they begin preparing for the investor panel. 
Chamber Board Chair Glen V. Cutrona points proudly to a calendar that features a picture of a mural painted by his talented assistant, Sally Ann Sitro . Sally was selected to paint the mural on the roll-down gates at a local business, as part of the 100 Gates Project . 100 Gates Project, through funding from the City, has been connecting local artists with local businesses to transform security gates into works of art.
Jeanne Giannattasia Sarno, 1st VP/Business Relationship Manager of Empire State Bank presented a donation check to Staten Island Children's Museum . The contribution will support the Museum's mission to nurture the creativity and curiosity natural to all children, to recognize and celebrate different learning styles, and to demonstrate vividly that learning can be exciting and fun.

Donate a new or used prom dress, cocktail dress and accessories to the Where to Turn drive and receive a certificate for a FREE appetizer for you next visit to any of the four Staten Island Applebee's . Dresses will be made available to underprivileged students and for the senior citizen prom.
