Leadership Board Update

The Leadership Board met on August 16th and several topics were discussed.

Children's Choir Director - Several well qualified Children's Choir Director applicants were interviewed over the summer.  Tim Sheehy and Maria reported that they had chosen a person to make an offer of employment to and wanted the blessing of the Leadership Board. Next steps were discussed as they would like to have this person begin employment as of September 1, 2018 in order that there is no gap in the children's choirs. There has been no interest so far in the bell choir position.  With full endorsement from the LB, Tim will discuss with the Prudential Ministry Board.

Live-streaming - The live-streaming ONC services idea of Andrew Oliver's was discussed. Dennis, Andrew, Rhod Sharp and Dave Tips had a conference call to talk about this before the Leadership Board meeting. The general consensus of the LB after a bit of discussion is that the job of the LB is to enable people's passions to be implemented.  In this case, this idea should be taken up with the Worship Ministry for further discussion, to assess interest and any other support, and to address the other considerations discussed by the LB, including permissions and any legal implications.  The LB would like to thank Andrew for his time in pursuing this idea.

PPR - Betsey Halbert, Marpa Eager, Karla, and Dennis have been working on establishing a Pastor-Parish Relations committee.  The LB was fully supportive of this. The UCC Conference is willing to run a PPR training course at the ONC November 7th to which we could invite surrounding churches to attend if they would like.

Nominating - Dave Hostetter needs a person to join him on the Nominating Committee. A few contacts may be approached to gauge their interest in this important effort.

By-laws - Don Morgan and Dave Hostetter have generously volunteered their time to create by-laws for our new organizational structure.  The LB would like them to define what they think their process would be.  Dennis will follow up with them to discuss the process.

New Business - Under new business we agreed that money could be taken from the baptism fund to support a couple of people being trained for OWL. Marpa Eager said Stewardship is starting to bubble and he would like to see the office involved again with this as they were so helpful last year.

NEXT MEETING: Thursday, September 13th at 7:30pm in the Great Room.
