Dear Tabor Village Family and Friends:
COVID-19 Pfizer Vaccine Update
A very special thank you goes out to the 366 staff and residents/tenants who have been vaccinated as this Pfizer vaccine is our best defense against COVID-19.

Tabor Home: 188 vaccinated (76 residents, 112 staff)
Valhaven: 42 vaccinated (24 residents, 18 staff)
Tabor Court: 136 vaccinated (94 residents, 42 staff)

We also wanted to give you an update on the second dose. Dr. Bonnie Henry announced this week that deliveries of the vaccine to Fraser Health have been delayed. The province is working with the federal government to ensure Fraser Health's supply gets back on track, but we will have extremely limited vaccine available for the next two weeks.

As a result, Fraser Health is postponing second doses temporarily until they have assurance that vaccine supply has fully resumed. This is all the information we have at this time, but we will update you as soon as we hear more from Fraser Health.

Thank you for your patience and understanding with this evolving situation.
Tabor Home Social (In-Person) Visits Are Back!
As you know, we started booking visits this week, which is great news for all! Just a friendly reminder that Social (in-person) visits are still only for the single Designated Visitor. As much as we'd love to open up our Home for everyone, we have to continue following Fraser Health policy.

If you are not the Designated Visitor for your loved one, we encourage you to take advantage of window visits and video chats as those visits are open to anyone.

All visits must be booked through Jackie Kingma, Visitation Supervisor.

Key Points To Remember:
  • All visits must be scheduled in advance with at least 24 hours notice.
  • Social (in-person) visits are for single Designated Visitors only at this time.
  • Window visits and video chats are open to anyone.
  • All visits should be booked on weekdays, as there are no staff available to take booking requests over the weekend.
  • Please note that you are always welcome to email your requests over the weekend for a visit the following week, but we're not able to accommodate a request that comes in on a Saturday for a visit the next day on Sunday.
  • All visits must be booked through Visitation Supervisor, Jackie Kingma.
  • When emailing or leaving a message with your booking request, please leave
  • your first and last name;
  • your loved one's name;
  • your loved one's site (Tabor Home, Tabor Court, Valhaven);
  • your loved one's room number.
  • Masks are mandatory on all Tabor Village property inside and outside.

Tabor Home Recreation Update
We are so excited to announce that programming will be starting up again in February including music, fitness, discussion groups, trivia, and our favourite - BINGO! Due to the process of safety plan approvals, we don't have a set calendar to share with you quite yet, but know that programs are a GO and we look forward to sharing some photos of life getting back to "normal" or at least a little.
Communications Update
Due to the Communications Coordinator being away for the next two weeks, the next e-newsletter will be sent on February 19th. However, if any urgent matters arise during that time, we will be sure to communicate those as soon as possible so you won't miss any important updates. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to the following:

Message of Hope with Pastor Ray
A Season of Loss - A Season to Remember

We at Tabor have been through a season of loss. In recent weeks. We have lost many friends as several residents died with COVID. We have lost freedoms and fellowship, the ability to visit with family and friends, and to have volunteers and music groups come to bless us. We have lost traditions, especially over Christmas of 2020, no Christmas Pageants, no festive meals with large groups, no parties or church programs. It has definitely been a season of loss.

We have prepared a Tabor Memorial Video, Winter 2021. We will show this to our residents at the Home. It will include hopeful and encouraging scripture from Psalm 23, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death – I will fear no evil – for God, You are with me.

It will include prayer and songs, and a brief meditation on this season of loss and how we grieve, working through emotions and issues of shock and denial, pain and guilt even anger and perhaps, reflection, and loneliness.

It is also a season to remember. The experience has not been all bad. We have learned things about ourselves personally and about our species. We are resilient, creative and persistent! We remember and celebrate the good days, reflect on the many blessings, and reassure ourselves and one another that this too shall pass ...
Grief, loss, and pain are part of our life, and are a growing, learning experience.

In James 1:2-4 we read, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Continue to pray through this season of loss, of remembrance and yet joy as we persevere with the strength we find in Jesus.
