The Greenway ARTbeat Series Returns for 2025

The Greenway BID is proud to partner once again with its members and the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy to bring the ARTbeat series back for 2025 with a fresh new look (see below)! This will be another seasons-long initiative, supported by funding from the Greenway BID, to enhance and expand public art and public programming throughout the entirety of The Greenway.

The series aims to engage downtown office workers and the community at large in making Boston a more vibrant and exciting place to live, work, and visit by centering public art and programming that provides unique experiences for residents and visitors alike.

Over the coming weeks, we will be working with the Conservancy team to bring refreshed marketing assets out into the park and paid advertising efforts to bolster awareness of and engagement with the program.

Upcoming ARTbeat Events

You’re Invited To The Cookout -

Opening Celebration for Ja’Hari Ortega’s Big Hoops to Fill

Join us in celebrating Ja’Hari Ortega’s Big Hoops to Fill, a new public art installation on The Greenway! Free and open to the public, this family-friendly celebration will feature remarks from the artist, music from DJ Séga Genn and A Trike Called Funk, lawn games for all ages, and Latin soul cuisine from Butter “UR” Biscuit.

Big Hoops to Fill is a large-scale sculpture designed by Boston-based artist, sculptor, and jewelry maker Ja’Hari Ortega (she/her). The artwork features two outsized golden bamboo hoop earrings –also known as “door knocker earrings” – that function as interactive swings. Cast from fiberglass with steel interior supports, the earrings hang from a swing set frame that echoes the one the artist grew up playing on in Roxbury, MA.

When: Thursday, May 15, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: On The Greenway at the corner of Seaport Blvd. and Atlantic Ave.
