The Greenway ARTbeat Series Updates

This season, the ARTbeat of The Greenway series continues to activate the park for the enjoyment of the downtown community. Already this summer, you’ve likely watched Big Hoops to Fill invite playful movement along the corridor or have stopped by dance pop-ups, jazz evenings, and bustling art fairs have filled the Greenway’s plazas with that unmistakable ARTbeat vibrancy.

As a reminder, the series aims to engage downtown office workers and the community at large in making Boston a more vibrant and exciting place to live, work, and visit by centering public art and programming that provides unique experiences for residents and visitors alike.

Your ongoing support of ARTbeat programming—whether through jazz nights, children’s art events, or vendor festivals—directly strengthens activity and engagement on the Greenway. Whether for programming or marketing, the ARTbeat series benefits more than public art; it helps further enliven a downtown environment that attracts people, supports local business, and contributes to fostering a more dynamic downtown along The Greenway.

New Public Art Installation: slips of breath through cracks of time by Jackie Amezquita

The Conservancy Greenway is pleased to introduce slips of breath through cracks of time: to burn, to flow, to rise, to hold, a new lava rock installation by Los Angeles–based artist Jackie Amézquita. This work uses strategically placed lava stones, ceremonial copal, and sound to connect earthly and spiritual realms, serving as both an artistic piece and a space for communal reflection and healing.

Located in the North End near LaRissa Rogers’ Going to Ground, Amézquita’s installation expands on the site’s history, exploring deeper ties to the earth and ancestral traditions
