My August message would usually be full of pictures of our Annual Icebreaker Event, which was unfortunately one more casualty of the on-going pandemic. I do want to thank our local Engineering Community for your past support of this exciting event and hope you can all join me at the 2021 Icebreaker, which will be bigger and better than ever!

On a brighter note, the East Central Branch does have two of our larger events, the Annual Officer Installation Luncheon (September 18th) and the Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament (September 25th) coming up! The Officer Installation Luncheon will be presented as a virtual meeting this year but we hope you can still join us to thank this year's volunteers and wish next year's Board Members best of luck in the 2020-2021 year.

Luckily golf is one of the few sports that lends itself to physical distancing! We had a fantastic tournament last year and we plan on still having some fun this year but with all the necessary precautions so it can still be a safe event. So start getting your teams together to join us out at Eagle Creek this year for some golf, drinks, prizes and awards!

Stay safe everyone and see you soon!

 Sincerely,

ASCE YMF Luncheon

As the school year is upon us, YMF would like to encourage you to support this year's school supply drive in any way you can!
As the primary provider of free school supplies to students, A Gift For Teaching (AGFT) coordinates the LARGEST supply drive in Central Florida; and we need your help more than ever this year. From August 1st - September 16th, AGFT will host our official Back-to-School Drive campaign.

The deep impact of COVID-19 in our community has forced thousands of families to make difficult decisions each day between food, utilities, and now, essential supplies for their children to be prepared to learn in the new school year. In order to help keep our supporters safe and out of stores, as well as limit the amount of physical contact supplies have before they reach children, we will be moving to a "virtual" supply drive. AGFT is joining forces with Backpack Gear, a long-time supporter and an Orlando-based supplier of school essentials, in order to safely provide these supplies to students.

A Special "Thank you" to all of the officers from the 2019-2020 year

Student Activities

Due to having to be socially distanced during these times and many things being remote ASCE has still been able to hold our bi-weekly officer meetings, along with concrete canoe and steel bridge meetings using zoom. Here is a picture during one of these meetings!

Furthermore, our marketing committee came up with ideas of how we can still interact with our members online and one of those ideas being a Netflix Party Movie Night. We were able to gather members to all watch The Spiderman Movie from their own laptops. ASCE has also been utilizing Instagram to interact with our members. Those ways being, posts about each of our officers and what they like about ASCE, and on 8/10/20 having a "Day in the life as an Intern" which will allow for different interns to post videos of what they do as a Civil Engineer Intern on the UCF-ASCE Instagram stories.
