Today is Arizona Gives Day! The state's biggest day of fundraising and The Joy Bus is grateful to be an approved #AZGivesDay organization. Throughout the rest of this year and into early 2024, we have HUGE goals for expansion of our programming and facility and we would love for YOU to be a part of this amazing process!
At our current location, each week about 50 volunteers make over 100 weekly patient visits, delivering 150+ delicious, healthful meals to people who are going through cancer treatment. Deliveries are prepared in and funded by all proceeds generated from our 1,400 square foot restaurant, The Joy Bus Diner. This is beautiful and incredible work but our team is working diligently to grow our meal delivery program to benefit even more people in Arizona, with a weekly goal of up to 300 home visits and an additional 2,500 refrigerated meals packaged by The Joy Bus for our patients each week.
To make this happen, we must dramatically expand our kitchen, commissary, and dining capacity. We have secured a 4,000 sq. ft. facility and have recently begun renovating this great space to meet the needs of our organization. In addition to this exciting growth of our meal delivery program, this new facility will also allow us to expand our programming to include an organic food pantry available to people affected by cancer, a culinary training program and job placement for youth affected by cancer, and a teaching kitchen for cancer patients, caretakers, medical students, and others interested in the preparation of nutritious food.
