AmeriCorps Members
Volunteer on MLK Jr. Day
Brianna Luu, an AmeriCorps Vista, serves in ReStore Resource Development and is working on a marketing plan for the Aberdeen ReStore.  On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, she volunteered at Glen Mar Church (Howard County) packaging meals for the hungry.  The goal of 90,000 meals packaged was surpassed by an additional 8,064 meals! They consisted of rice, soy, vegetables, and dry vitamins.  Thank you, Brianna, for your service and hard work.

Julie Seechuk, an AmeriCorps National, serves as Community Outreach Coordinator working on neighborhood revitalization. On MLK Jr. Day, Julie wrote letters to girls who have been bullied and abused and posted them on the website LiveYourDream.org.
In one of her messages, Julie said, "You are beautiful inside and out.  Never let anyone tell you otherwise."   Thank you, Julie, for giving a year of service to strengthen communities!
Nijah Barnes, an AmeriCorps VISTA, serves in Resource Development and has been assisting with our largest upcoming fundraiser, the annual Dream Builders' Ball (Feb. 17) through peer-to-peer relations, securing in-kind and monetary donations.  On MLK Jr. Day, Nijah volunteered with the Live Your Dream Foundation and passed out flyers to spread awareness about domestic violence, a cause close to Nijah's heart because she was a victim of domestic violence. Thank you, Nijah, for your service and dedication!
AmeriCorps VISTA: Volunteers in Service to America, a domestic counterpart to the PeaceCorps, providing full-time members to community organizations and public agencies to create and expand programs that build capacity and ultimately bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty.  AmeriCorps Vistas do a full-time year of service behind-the-scenes at Habitat for Humanity, developing and establishing a need in the community, such as a marketing plan, fundraising plan, etc.

AmeriCorps State and National: Supports a broad range of local service programs that engage thousands of Americans in intensive service to meet critical community needs.
A National Member works for about 10½ months directly with people.  When working at Habitat for Humanity, National Members can serve as either a Family Services Coordinator, Community Outreach Coordinator, Construction Crew Leader, or as a Volunteer Coordinator, working directly with families, children, communities, etc. to meet community needs.

Spotlight: Volunteer of the Month
The Volunteer Of The Month For February  is  Nancy She  has been volunteering with the ReStore since July 2016.  Nancy is a huge help at our warehouse on Fridays.  When our staff is tied up with tasks, Nancy is not afraid to take charge and keep order.  Not only is she a natural leader, but she's also a great teacher.  She has trained countless new volunteers and helped them get acclimated to the ReStore donations process.  Thank you, Nancy!  We are blessed to have you on the ReStore Team!

Monthly Color Tag Sales
We're running color tag sales every month, where items will be priced according to condition, uniqueness, quantity and from where it was received. Our items range from high-end corporate donors to residential, and everything is priced from $-$$$ and in-between.

At the beginning of each month items will be marked down with the colored tags, depending on how long they've been at the ReStore. Pictured here (at right) are the tags you'll see in the store, and the markdowns they represent. Happy shopping!

Three-Day Holds
The vast majority of our furniture is extremely heavy, and due to insurance requirements, we unfortunately cannot load your vehicle. We'll be happy to bring your item(s) to the loading dock for you to load yourself.  Please note that we have a strict three-day hold. If you do not pick your item(s) up by the third day, they will be returned to the floor to be resold, and ONLY store credit minus the 20% restocking fee will be issued for the amount of the item.  Sorry, NO REFUNDS.

Perka Points
We offer a frequent purchase program called Perka. Download the app, and for every dollar you spend you earn 1 point. 100 points= $10 off (certain discounts cannot be combined to create a greater reward). Ask in the store for details.
